Went to a Kerry meetup, bought "Another Christian for Kerry" button, learned my letter to the editor will be published this week, promised to print the local calendar of events off the website for an uncomputered Democrat, and agreed to attend the startup meeting of a new chapter of Federation of Democratic Women.

I emailed a memo to the Kerry people in charge of media relations on ways to improve their local media relations. I'm a Deanie, and we had developed much more sophisticated techniques than the Kerry supporters are using.
Then, in a "you're welcome" note to a supply clergyman who preached at our church last week, I mentioned in passing that I'd just come home from a Kerry meetup (planting a mustard seed!).
This morning I circulated widely an email anti-Bush joke.

...but they generally sink like stones- you would think all these DUers would want to "brag" about their great work and encourage others...
I'd love to hear what other DUers are doing...

Mr. blm's workplace does not allow political activism so most everything I do has to be under a radar.
I am organizing a convention watch party in my new neighborhood where we will raise money for the DNC. Under my maiden name, of course.

You cant expect the party to reflect your values if you cant even show up to a meeting or do some volunteer work.
At least we are doing it.

We Deanies were encouraged to become the grassroots of the Democratic Party, so I've been trying. It isn't easy or agreeable, but you're absolutely right: It has to be done if we want the party as a whole to head our way instead of toward the DLC. You have no impact at all on the direction of Democrats if all you are is a name in the book at the polling place.

|
They've been selling out at our F911 tablings, even though ours are a not-very-attractive white on yellow. Send me your address and I'll send you mine. (My husband goes to the button-making sessions, so I'll get him to snag me another one.)

|
That was discussed at a meeting last week. It's odd to me, but my late husband was Catholic and considered himself that rather than the more generic Christian, and the Catholics in the group agreed there should be such a specific button. I didn't see any last night; do you have any suggestions for design? Maybe a papal flag?
I'll email the people on the button committee and tell them to get a move on.

Today, I've donated $50 to the Kerry Campaign, and on Friday, my wife and I are attending a reception for John Edwards. My wife talked her mom into attending, which is another $500 into the kitty!
Cheers -- :toast:

Let's do this every day or maybe, realistically, every other day. Somebody start off when they go to a fund-raiser or a tabling.
And thanks, Dr. Fate, for the idea. I'll try to make sure I stop by daily instead of missing a week or two at a time.
