This one should be filled with some real doozies as Hillary's own personal Baghdad Bob (Terry McCauliffe) will be opposite Chris Dodd. Can somebody please post a Baghdad Bob picture in this thread just for effect?

| 8. I find your comparison of Clinton and her surrogates to Baghdad Bob |
|
so offensive. When the election first started and someone (you know who you are) posted a picture of Clinton as Hitler, I remember thinking about how ignorant and disgusting that person was (is), and now daily you all continue the over-the-top offensive, intellectually lazy, bizarre behavior that is akin to the worst sort of propaganda and hate-filled speech.
Disgusting. I wonder what causes you to frequent a "progressive" board. Somewhere along the way, you took a wrong turn at the internts and highjacked this board that used to be filled with open minds and ideas. Now it is a shell of what it used to be, with thugs and ugly ugly suggestions like the one here.

|
that you believe her tactics are different than Obama's. That does not make her evil, or the devil, or Hitler, or Baghdad Bob. That means that we discuss the issues without demeaning the candidate and in doing so--her supporters.
I have been here for years, and thought that this was a progressive board. I am betrayed by the people on here, or, perhaps my eyes have been opened to the reality: it is not a progressive board. Anyone that uses those ugly divisive, over-the-top comparisons is NOT progressive.

Drugs: Clinton never said he sold drugs. That never occured out of her mouth or a surrogate of hers. Indeed, he talked about his drug use (which is a legitmate issue) himself.
Muslim: Clinton never said he was a muslim. And indeed, it was distributed all over the media and has been since before he started campaigning. And when asked, she said he was not. Madrassa: again, Clinton did not do those things...
So, you attribute things to Clinton that she did NOT do. And then you hate her so much for it that you can resort to the most vile comparisons (Hitler, BB, etc).
And yet, you post thread after thread of distortions about Clinton's religion, college years (goldwaater girl) personal life (why she stayed with hubby)...doing the very same things that you accuse Clinton and her supporters of doing...and that is, ok? NOt worthy of hatred? Justified?
What the hell?

False. The statement was made by Billy Shaheen, a national co-chair of the Clinton campaign and a top surrogate both in New Hampshire and among Arab-Americans nationwide.
Muslim: Clinton never said he was a muslim. And indeed, it was distributed all over the media and has been since before he started campaigning. And when asked, she said he was not.
Clinton campaign staffers were caught forwarding the muslim/madrassa email to activists in Iowa. When asked whether she believed Obama was a Muslim, Hillary gave the too-cute-by-half "not as far as I know" answer.
And for the record, I never posted anything about Hillary's relationship with Bill, or her documented support of Barry Goldwater.

Obama used his drug use on the campaign trial. When Shaheen said what he did (which was twisted and distorted) he was fired from her campaign and denounced. I don't see you using the same standard with Obama's mistakes and outspoken surrogates that you do with Clinton, why the difference?
Muslim: You are only quoting part of her statement. She said no at least twice before the statement you suggest. And of course you twist its meaning and give all sorts of negative connotations to it--becasue that is what guys do best. Lie and distort. When Clinton was asked that question (and said NO twice) she was put in an akward position. Should she be jumping up and down adamant that Obama is not the evil, icky muslim? Or should she be reserved and respectful to a legitmate religion that includes many Americans? You guys are so quick to misjduge and hate her that you fail to see reality.
Obama staffers were caught sending e-mails to the media encouraging stories about Clinton's racism and B. Clinton's affairs. Why are they ok with you?
Both candidates have had campaigns that used political tactics. When someone on staff crossed the line, they were dealt with. You all refuse to acknowlede that when it comes to Clinton and bend over backwards giving Obama the benefit of the doubt. She has never had a level playing field.
Backwards and in high heels.

| 68. Heck yes she should have jumped up and down adamant about him not being Muslim |
|
She herself could have stopped the single most horrible thing that could hurt him physically some time down the road; the wildfire spread of lies about him being Muslim. You know those e-mails spread across this country and many people believed them. Many people still believe it, many people who are loyal to Hillary Clinton and are the sort who believe e-mails that are sent them without researching it before condemning Obama. One Democrat I know of locally is so filled with fear of what she suspects Obama's evil plan is for America that I am concerned for her psychologically when he becomes president. The reason this should have been denounced loud and clear (jumping up and down if you will) is because of the past 8 years of Bush and his friends equating being Muslim with having evil plans against America. This Democrat that I just mentioned feels exactly that; Obama is a Muslim and he has evil plans to harm America. She believes so much in Hillary Clinton, don't you think that if Hillary had made a stronger and more direct denouncement of this issue that people like this woman would not live in total fear of an Obama presidency?

It calls his judgment and decision making ability into question.

| 52. You know what I find excruciatingly ironic? You refer to DU a "progressive" board, and in a certain |
|
very loose sense of the word it is -- but really, DU is much more yuppie socially liberal and economically centrist than "progressive".
I also don't consider the word "progressive" to be a synonym for "liberal", and I find it irritating and "intellectually lazy" to see it constantly used as such.
Way back even before the official start of the Dem nomination race, I literally BEGGED people to not support a Hillary Clinton candidacy. I said you can NOT call yourself a "progressive" and then turn around and support a DLCer and someone so entrenched in the Owner Class power structure. You'll just reinforce the entire Establishment/globalist/imperialist status quo.
So, as far as I'm concerned, supporters of Hillary Clinton are not "progressives", they are "liberals" -- NOT the same thing. That's why I will always find it ironic when Clinton supporters invoke the word "progressive" when scolding non-Clinton supporters.
Sorry, by virtue of being a Clinton supporter, you have no claim on that word.
And let me hasten to add that I was also dead set against Obama at the start, whom I would never mistake for a "progressive", nor mistake all his supporters as "progressives".
Do not mistake me for a partisan, I am a progressive.

I am a liberal. I sure don't claim Hillary as one of ours. Hillary is a DINO. She is farther to the right than Bill is. Look at who she hob-nobs with. Right-wing money people. Look at where her campaign money came from, then look at her so called health care plan. It wasn't the average American she was thinking of. bu$h's Iraqi war - She still has not really backed off from that. Hillary is a DLC member in good standing. That alone should make her suspect as to what kind of president she would be. And then, the way she ran her campaign is straight from the neocon's darling, lovable ol' Karl Rove. Hillary is neither a Liberal nor a progressive. Please save us from her followers. They are of the same reality deficient mentality as the bu$h supporters. Neither Liberals nor Progressives act like that.

| 70. I guess your definition of progressive and mine are two different things |
|
Progressive to me IS liberal. Because, the right-wing highjacked the word, redefined it (just like they did Clinton) and made it a negative.
Progressive is our answer to that: an open minded person willing to see all sides of an issue, to fight for civil rights and worker's rights, and to focus on the issues global warming as well as other liberal issues.
To suggest that Clinton is not a progressive IS partisan. Indeed the irony of your post to suggest that you are not partisan while the foundation of it is nothing more than partisan. You ignore Clinton's progressive work on issues through out her life.
You ignore the supporters fights in their home towns for progressive issues. And you stand on your soap box and attempt to highjack the word, re-define it, and claim it as your own, as you close your mind, and exclude.
Whatever.
