August is usually a quiet month in election years. People usually start to pay attention after Labor Day.
This year is different.
BushCo/Nixon, Inc. thought they'd better get out ahead of JK; but JK campaigns fast, hard, and meaner than his opponents.
Just ask Bill Weld.
Bill Who?
I rest my case.

It's one of the things I like about him.

| 3. Yeah - 1980 - We got the short end then. Iranian hostage crisis + |
|
economic stagnation - neither of which were really anything Carter could have prevented and the voters knew that but they dumped him anyway. This time voters know where the blame for Iraq lies so I think they will desert Bush sooner. In 1980 the undecideds didn't break for Reagan until the last week of the campaign.

you are the exception, judging from your moniker.

| 6. the Carter-Reagan analogy |

is very apt. In that election, Carter had a small lead into the final week. The voters decided they could trust Reagan, so they broke for him. IN this election if the voters decide they can trust Kerry to be tough in the war on terror, they will break for him.
