| Poll question: Anyone having trouble overcoming dread when clicking the GD2004 link? |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-12-04 10:25 AM by WilliamPitt
:)
They're still scrubbing the blood and intestines off the walls of this forum from the primaries. I stopped coming in here after March, and so it's weird to be clicking in here several times a day. When I used to come in, I had to take a deep mental breath before clicking. I find myself still doing it, even though the atmosphere has dramatically improved.
Anyone else? I kinda-in-a-tiny-tiny-way understand how some vets felt when they visited Vietnam 20 years after the war. :)

| 3. WILL must feel like some of the WWII troops felt... |
|
When coming into part of a country we liberated after the battle was over. Calm, peaceful, but the scars of war are still visible. (NOT like the situation in Iraq, of course, where the battle is still being waged.x( ).
But it's really gratifying to see so many former combattants now only "enemy combattants" toward Dub & Co.--the way we thought of them all along!:D

| 4. The dread from the primaries has been replaced by a new dread: |
|
That I'll see yet another thread saying "THK Should Go Back To PA" or "My RW MIL Sent Me This Email" or "Help Me Refute..." or "Safe States Should Vote Nader" or "Kerry Says Bush Was Right To Invade Iraq"...
Didja ever see those or was I dreaming?

that only a certain type of DU veteran knows. I does come back occaisionaly, unbiden, but for the most part, no, not any more. However, when I am reading through the treads and see one against our candidate I do still see some of the old "red mist". Hopefully this red mist is now directed towards Freepers and not towards fellow comrades.

I don't even bother with threads that question Kerry, discuss the IWR vote, or have anything to do with the Swift Boat liars. They just don't matter at this point. Once you get past some of that garbage, there are a lot of people on here with great ideas for getting Kerry elected.
I have the pleasure of living in a battleground state, Missouri, this cycle. For us on the ground in places like this, we are singularly focused on getting out the vote in November. If there is some noise around here, it is just water on a duck at this point.

So be it. Criticize I say, but I hope folks make certain they are informed when they criticize. If not, I'm willing to help set the record straight. Not as an apologist, but out of my intense desire to elect our party's nominee and keep the critical focus on Bush and his cronies.
