it's hardly uncommon for people to leave a political forum as their candidate drops out of contention. In the mixed forums I visit, Republicans all went silent for months after the 2006 midterms, and Democrats were hard to find following Bush's re-election. Everything seems nastier when your candidate's bleeding on the mat.
