16. MoveOn Began In '98...

in response to the horseshit media coverage of the Clenis Inquisition. It was to MOVE ON to real business and not Clinton's penis. I joined in those days and have been an avid supporter ever since...and yes, I donate a lot more to this organization since it isn't covered by campaign finance laws.

The organization didn't take a position in the primaries and it's connections to Kerry, as many of ours, is in a common cause to return sanity to government. It's not a hate Bunnypants or hate Repugnicans thing. Yes, there's contempt for these assholes, but the goal of this organization is to look forward, not back.

SwiftFreepers didn't exist until AFTER Kerry was the Democratic nomninee. It had no previous reason to. None of these "patriots" speak about the POW/MIAs...or the on-going health problems of Veterans or the fate of the current men and women in uniform in a similar mess. They're only reason to exist is to destroy John Kerry and solely to prevent him and Democrats from winning an election fair and square.

I'm sure Wes Boyd will gladly open the doors to show how MoveOn was started and how it's grown...the millions of $5 & %10 donations that support it and the multi-facets way it's grown. MoveOn has more in common with an American Enterprise Institute...and you won't hear the FEC go near them.

MoveOn has always been "independent" and the best thing about it is that its really "powered by the PEOPLE"....donors like myself, my neighbors, the highschool kid down the street who is afraid he might get drafted if Bush is President for another 4 years, the little old ladies who came to the "Bake Back the White House" Bake Sales and are having to choose between eating and their medication, the teacher who is worried about the "No Child Left Behind - NOT" program, the unemployed guy for over 18 months whose job got outsourced, etc. etc. Whenever there has been a MoveOn ad on television etc. its been because of those $5, $10, $25 donations from "THE PEOPLE". If Dean, or Edwards, or Clark, or Gephardt etc had been the Democratic Nominee, they wouldn't be doing anything different which is to question what this administration has been doing to our country and the taxpayers (who pay for his job) to be held accountable.

The Swiftboat Vets for Truth (NOT) is a group that was formed fairly recently when it became obvious that Kerry was going to be the Presidential nominee for the Dem Party. Suddenly, after 35 years, these guys dust off the cobwebs and are funded by a handful of associates of the BUSH administration and funded by some GOP donors. Not only that - THEY ARE LYING! Show me where MoveOn has lied about anything....where? Lied in having ads that show the ballooning deficit that our children are going to have to pay off? TRUE... Invading a Nation on the pretense of WMD's when it clearly was not the case? TRUE... I could go on and on, the point is that even a remote comparison of the two organizations is laughable. I love MoveOn because almost more than my elected officials and certainly more than the DNC, they can get a message across that I participated in funding and that is the truth.

The SwiftBoat Liars.....well, it clearly is a front for the BUSH campaign to attack Kerry....the good news is that it is backfiring. Sadly, these Vets that are trying to tear down Kerry are the ones in the end who will be suffering for their lies.
