| Kerry's fundraising a record- lots of people must hate Bush |
|
Democrat John Kerry took in a total of $233.4 million in campaign contributions before accepting the party's presidential nomination last month, more money than any Democratic candidate in history, Federal Election Commission filings show........ http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=ax7eRxFrsTdA&refer=top_world_news

i am so (perhaps too) optimisticc about the nov. election. so many more people are getting involved and so many more people are going to vote. i'm predicting near-record voter turnout, both overall and for young people.
i don't think it's going to be as close as people say it is. kerry by a few points.

| 4. I was a first time contributor too |
|
Though I worked for John Anderson's presidential campaign a long time ago, Kerry is the first time I sent a candidate money. I sent him $1000, which, as it turns out, was a lot more than I can really afford (I've been out of work for 18 months, living off my savings which is now completely gone). The market for someone like me is not very good (older Linux/Unix kernel guy) right now, so... oh well.
I really hope Kerry rids us of Bush. In some way, it will have been worth it.

| 5. Anyone seen those great DNC fundraisers on the street? |
|
Thanks to those great kids, the DNC identifies 40,000 new contributors a week. It's the 1st time the DEMS have done this since the 1960s.
Next time you see one, be nice and make a token (or large!) contribution!!!

| 8. Today a home improvement contractor solicited me by telephone |
|
for a job of some kind at my home. My reply was we have to do all our own improvements. Then I remarked that everyone needs to get out and vote Bush out of the White House before we all go bankrupt. The person on the other end of the line replied - Amen to that - or something to that effect! I talk to very few people who like the Bush people.

| 7. It says more than that. |
|
It means that a lot of people who are paid to keep their organization in the loop are starting to sense a trend toward Kerry. You just don't raise that much money by getting lots of small checks from those of us who hate Bush. You also need to get money from the pros.

| 10. Part of this is due to Clinton-- |
|
he was an expert fundraiser--and he turned the DNC into a very well-oiled fund-raising machine. The Democratic party is much more professional about fundraising than they were pre-Clinton. We really should give him part of the credit here.

And as much as people gripe about Terry McAuliffe, he was one of the key pieces behind the Clinton fund raising legacy.

Did you ever stop and think that, maybe, Kerry is raising so much money because a lot of people LIKE Kerry?
