The press is going to dig up everything they can. I say again the wrong fight was picked here, at least at the wrong time. When all the media turn their guns on unskilled politicians like the Swifites, who have made some contradicting statements over the years, it gets ugly. Bush will be the one slimed by this. Kerry will keep the focus on his "war hero" image, the only thing he's got. Vietnam must not be the issue to decide this election - stupid, stupid, stupid.

because we've got them nailed
the Kerry campaign played this BRILLIANTLY, sure let the swifties have there 15 minutes or whatever, then Kerry could politely ask them to stop, and when they don't, hit 'em and hit 'em hard with the facts. The backlash is going to be spectacular!
I love how some freepers attack McCain over this, calling him McStain! lol

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1196564/posts These cretins just love lawyers, as long as they are robbing us of our votes or covering their criminal asses. But those nasty trial lawyers who protect people from corporations who produce shoddy and defective products which maim and kill are nasty evildoers.

Doesn't anyone but me see the contradiction here? "Trial Lawyers" are badguy Democrats. So let's get this straight -- all the Pubbie trial lawyers who do defense work, defending corporations, aren't "Trial Lawyers" like John Edwards.
If all those Pubbie trial lawyers didn't have the Democratic "Trial Lawyers" filing lawsuits, how would the Pubbie trial lawyers make a living? Support their fancy lifestyle? Pay for their donations to Georgie?
No logic here, just another Pubbie "Big Lie."

"What gets me though is the gall of the left. Can you imagine if these Swift veterans made a major motion picture on Kerry like Michael Moore did with Bush? All hell would break loose. Or how about Moveon.org and all the TV ads they put out on Bush? I`ve yet to hear Bush say anything that comes even close to complaining about that, but when Kerry gets a TV ad bashing him, he goes immediately running the FEC like a crybaby. That to me should show the public what kind of a man he is."
F9/11 is "a major motion picture"??????? LOL! The only reason it's making a dime is because Bush is the most unpopular man on the planet. And because people know enough about Moore to know he'll come right out and say so.

|
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 10:34 PM by elperromagico
or at the very best, unsubstantiated statements. The Moore film, the MoveOn ads, and the various books present facts - facts presented in such a way as to fit with the presenter's message, yes, but facts nevertheless.
Bush has had four years to find someone to prove that he reported for duty in the Alabama National Guard. To my knowledge, he's found no one. His military records - what has been released, anyway - seem to confirm that he missed a considerable portion of his service.
Meanwhile, Kerry has Navy records, the recollections of his crewmates, and of Navy men serving in the same area as him - even some who are now attacking him - to confirm his story.
There is indeed a quantifiable difference.

| 27. Interesting... you'd think some freeps would like someone like McCain. |
|
What, the freepers are all just enslaved to the Bush family because Karl Rove told them to be?
And he's only "McStain" because he was smeared by their hero, and Rove.
I don't like McCain because I think he's a tool for supporting shrubco in this election as actively as he has. But I do respect that his sacrifice for his country was IMMENSE. Several years of his life under painful horrible imprisonment. If I had the slightest inclination towards being a conservative Repub (and I don't), I would be much more interested in politicians with a biography like McCain, or Dole, than a manufactured spoiled rich fratboy product like Bush.
I may not agree with their politics. But service, personal risk, and sacrifice, I RESPECT.
Clearly the Bush gang, and many of their supporters, do NOT.

It's almost humorous reading these posts. You have to have your eyes firmly closed and ears plugged for 35 years to come up with some of these doozies...to wit:
When the slightest pressure hits, Kerry goes crying. Bush on the other hand says "I love freedom of speech." <Right, this poster misses the post above his that Bush did the same thing in April> That`s all Bush ever says when asked about all the attacks he`s had to endure. That`s a strong leader, a leader who competely believes in this country and stands behind it`s freedoms < don't leader's stand in front?> above everything else including himself. Kerry on the other hand only cares about Kerry. He`s just another Bill Clinton, it`s all about "me me me me". We don`t need another guy like that leading this country, especially in time of war.,<no, we need someone who gets to avoid war because of his dad's connections and then goes AWOL on the obligation> A man who puts himself first in times of war will cost lives.< does Iraq ring a bell dummy> But I guess that comes easy to him since he did that very thing 35 years ago.<Is he talking about Bush or Kerry here?; I can't tell.>
The most confused people on this Earth post at FreeRepublic.
