| The Pulitzer winning investigation into Vietnam atrocities |
|
Foe those who haven't read this, it is eye-opening documented proof of SOME U.S. Soldier's campaign of terror and atrocities. A must read. http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=SRTIGERFORCE

| 1. Thanks for this. So many DU'ers are too young to remember Vietnam |
|
and maybe don't understand that it was a dirty war...which under a "draft" they might have had to fight in. The atrocities were real. The outcry from the American Public (swayed by information coming out from the folks like Kerry and even the most outrageous anti Vietnam protestors made a difference) and we had to "cut and run" because that mistaken "WAR" was sapping our money and making America look like fools.
It was on the back of a generation that war was fought and the DEBT from that war held back the rest of us for decades.
The "revisionists" who are now making Vietnam seem like a war we should have stayed and finished are the same crew and croud who want Bush and the Corporations to run America and have now sucked us back into huge national and private debt with their VISIONS OF EMPIRE.
Suckered again....and unless we know what happened it Vietnam...we will never get out of the Middle East...but it's even more dire..our situation now. We don't have any money to pay for this...:-( :grr:

| 2. So true. The parallels are frightening |
|
I fear that tens of thousands of kids will be killed in the M.E. because of this insanity...55,000 troops killed in Vietnam for NOTHING...hundreds of thousands severely wounded and millions of Vietnamese slaughtered.
What did they do to deserve this? nothing, nada, zip, zero.
It was a military industrical complex self-licking ice cream cone clusterfuck.
IraqNam is, too.

| 3. Don't forget Seymour Hersch's Pulitzer for exposing My Lai. |
|
Don't forget the "Soldier's Medals" recently awarded to Army helicopter pilot Hugh Thompson and his crewmembers, Lawrence Colburn and Glenn Andreotta (KIA Vietnam), for landing on the dike outside the hamlet My Lai-4 and stopping the bloody massacre. They stood up to incredible pressure to "forget" what happened at My Lai and go along with the cover-up. For years Thompson was reviled by certain vets for his part in exposing the atrocities, not at all unlike how Kerry is reviled by the Swift-Liars for his public anti-war stand after his honorable and heroic service in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, an enabler of the My Lai cover-up serves on the cabinet of AWOL Bu$h. Way too much irony for my diet.

I started the first chapter of that series of articles and it got so awful, I just had to stop. I couldn't read anymore.
