OK - so a tie in the electoral college means bush wins but who is VP?

As I look through the polls it is not that far fetched if kerry takes NH and bush takes florida and ohio and all the states stay where they are now - then its 269 votes each.

THAT MEANS - that each congressional delegation gets one vote. 30 are republican controlled and since redistricting has made a huge swing unlikely, this means shrub remains president.

BUT - the senate votes on who is VP and with a couple of repub seats likely going dem...

MY QUESTION - who would the dems in the senate make VP to bush? kerry? edwards? dean - just for the hell of it to really screw with bushco? kucinich!!!!

1. Probably Edwards

But so what? The VP must be kept apprised of national security matters, and is a member of the NSC. Otherwise, the president can completely shut the VP out of the Administration (make him schedule an appointment to come to the White House, where he has to wear a visitor's pass around his neck). Bush would simply refuse to delegate any responsibility to a Democratic VP, other than what the law requires he do.

not the newly elected ones which don't take office until January which means Bush/Cheney in MHO.

not the current one. The new Congress is seated on the 3rd of January while the President is inagurated on the 20th. Thus the new Congress is the one which tallies the EC votes and certifies the winner.

First of all, the point's probably moot since the rethug spin machine and the whores will demand that the senate vote for someone closely aligned with the president "to avoid a constitutional crisis" and for "the good of the country." I'd bet a buck that enough Senate Dems cave to give it to Cheney in a walk.

Even if the senate elected a Dem, the rethugs and the whores will demand s/he closely align himself with Chimp, "to avoid a constitutional crisis" and for "the good of the country." The Dem vice president will then become a walking, talking ad for chimp's "uniting" America.

Therefore the senate should do exactlywhat the rethugs and the media will loudly demand-- nominate the person whose agenda is most closely aligned with the actual(if well disguised) agenda of the president and his party--and that man is David Duke.
