Dean demands apology from Bush in WPB

WEST PALM BEACH — SNIP..."Former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean called Monday on President Bush to apologize to the nation for what he called misleading campaign ads about Sen. John Kerry's record in Vietnam.

Appearing at a rally for Betty Castor's Democratic senatorial campaign at City Place in West Palm Beach, Dean said, "The president of the United States needs to apologize to John Kerry and the people of America."

Dean noted that Ken Cordier, a retired Air Force colonel who was a member of the Bush-Cheney campaign's veteran's steering committee, participated in television ad sponsored by a group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that questioned the legitimacy of Kerry's Silver and Bronze Stars and three Purple Hearts while commanding a Swift Boat during the Vietnam war....."

Ken Cordier only resigned because he was outed by digby on his blog. The bu$hies were caught red handed. Cordier was on board officially as bu$hco outreach coordinator for vets, and they've had him on board since 2000. And of course Cordier has no idea that working in the campaign and appearing in this 527 ad would be illegal yeah, right.

I am so impressed at the coverage Howard Dean has gotten on his rally in Florida with Castor and on a smaller one with Dr. Arthur Anderson. He is running against Lepore for Elections Supervisor.

SNIP..."Howard Dean brought his scream to a rally Monday at CityPlace, and by the end of the event even U.S. Senate-hopeful Betty Castor was screaming.

Offering a toned-down version of his famous post-Iowa caucus "scream," the former Vermont governor and one-time Democratic presidential frontrunner shouted that Castor would carry Miami-Dade County, Broward County, Palm Beach County and many more in the Democratic primary next Tuesday.

Castor, who occasionally had to shout to be heard over the crowd of about 250 people, called the upcoming election "a defining moment for America . . . and Florida."

SNIP.."Also lending their support at the noon event for Castor were former Attorney General Janet Reno and West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel, but Dean was clearly the big draw. Many of the people attending the rally wore Dean campaign paraphernalia or were members of Dean's Democracy for America coalition groups.

Dean described Castor as an "extraordinary human being" and said "we have to hold on to Bob Graham's seat in the United States Senate, and Betty Castor can do that better than anyone else." Castor, Deutsch and Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas are the leading Democrats in the Aug. 31 primary to succeed Graham, who is retiring....."

A friend said the crowd was larger, but he had no count. He says the 250 is an undercount. Not sure, I was not there.
