Is it POSSIBLE for Obama to go on the offense?

I, like most of you, think that he needs to do this, and that it SHOULD be easy to do it. He has an overwhelming supply of material; but just to take one, he could start tying McSame to chimp relentlessly. He could run ads with that theme, underscore it in every speech, and direct all Dems appearing on TV to do the same. Rinse, lather, repeat. You know, kind of like the repugs do EVERY election. And oh yeah, it works.

So why isn't he doing it? Seriously,what do you think? I've begun to wonder if the corporate media would allow it. They certainly wouldn't run ads with chimp tied to McSame for free, as they do for repugs. They probably wouldn't allow Dems spokespeople to continue to bring up the theme without interrupting and/or ridiculing them. The corporate media certainly wouldn't set up all day coverage about how much McSame and chimp have in common.

Still, isn't it worth a try?:shrug:

5. First off I am going to vote for Obama. But he better

take the f---ing gloves off and fight. You don't go to a gun fight with a butterknife. This is the reason I didn't support Obama in the primaries, the damn republicans got down and dirty with the race stuff early and if he doesn't go on the offensive and nip it in the bud he toast. You got to tell it like it is and define McCain a liar and flip flopper in no uncertain terms. You have to define him as the elitist with his $500 loafers, 7 homes and his millionaire wife. I think most Americans respect someone who tells it like it is. Sure he and his people are smarter than me but so was President John Kerry and his staff. This is starting to play out like 2000 and 2004, the Republicans have defined Obama and all we do is whine. Then after we loose everyone will be whining they cheated at the polls. :mad:

I think that's just exactly what Obama is doing. He knows that the librul media would never give free airplay to his attack ads like they do for McCain's. By ignoring the ads he seems to be forcing mccain's campaign to sink lower and lower as they try to get to him. It won't be long now before they are reduced to putting out ads that say "Don't vote for a N-word"

I think Obama is playing them like a skilled toreador. We all thought he should "go negative" on clinton but he just sat back and let her destroy herself (or let bill destroy her). He's doing the same with McCain.

Obama goes on offense when he needs to do so. He uses small, sharp jabs to make his point in a humorous way. His retorts get air time. The world sees him smiling, exuding confidence, and chiding with laughter the idiocy of his opponent.

"Is that all John McCain has after a life time of public service - silly ads about Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and me? He can't talk about what he and Bush have done to the economy, or the mess they've made around the world."

Although not an actual quote, that is the gist of some of Obama's responses to McCain.

I do think Obama needs to be more forceful with media types when they interview him and try to use those lame GOP memes, however. He should chide THEM for parroting the McCain slurs so excessively.

10. He has gone on the offensive very effectively before

Such as giving JSM III the appropriate acknowledgment for his military service and then respectfully criticizing his military policies and unwillingness to support the troops.

He's good at providing sharp criticism with all due respect. But that can be very elegant and detractors may thus call it arrogant because it isn't kitchen sink slinging, it is a clean slice; it's a cool and detailed checkmate.

I'm sure he will do it again. And I liked the off the cuff remarks he has made about the negativity in JSM III's campaign.
