| Why isn't Kerry Touting the BCCI Investigation? |
|
They could make some INCREDIBLE commercials with it (complete with Bin Laden's photograph - I mean, accounts that were later traced to Al Qaeda and numerous terrorist accounts were managed by the bank) and they would help the American people get an idea of the things Kerry has done.
I would love for them to do the same with Iran-Contra. Heck, they could even use some hyperbole and say he "uncovered" Iran-Contra - he did, although I think someone else accompanied him. But I guess they don't want to turn off Reagan supporters.
And the POW investigation? Would that be good? The ANWR fillibuster?
But BCCI would be the cream of the crop

Enron scam. I think that's why the Dems are making a mistake by not weeding out these assholes. I don't hear the Dems crying out for Ken Lay's ass.

The BCCI scam did not involve fellow Dems although one of the banks through whichb money was laundered was managed by Clark Clifford, a long time Dem supporter and friend to Carter and Jackie O...Clifford was later cleared of any wrongdoing.
As to the original poster, BCCI is SO complicated that most of the public would not get it...but I suspect that MUCH of the info Kerry gleaned from his investigations of BCCI and IRan Contra are his ACES IN THE HOLE...that is...the kind of dirt you let go of closer to the election when Bush (if he accepts public funds) won't have the time of money to counter.

"Bush did business with Bin Laden's bankers while Kerry...was fighting to shut it down to terrorist and drug connections."
"Long before September 11, 2001, George W. Bush got a 25 million dollar loan from the same bankers that dealt with bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, while John Kerry was fighting to stop this bank's global laundering of money for drug lords and terrorists. John Kerry shut it down. He's been fighting terrorism at its roots since before George Bush ran for office."
How would that go over?

You'd have to get folks to wrap their brains around some mind-boggling info. Most are NOT up to the task. There's TONS of stuff in the archives if you wanna check it out.

It's perfectly true. You don't need to get into the details.
The point is to make it short and simple, and show that while Bush was screwing around, Kerry was fighting terror.
You don't think that message would have any effect?

The problem I've encountered is folks don't want to believe the level of corruption. I dunno anymore. When people are prepared to stand by a *pansyass slacker with NO BACKUP and disbelieve eyewitness accounts from guys whose honor is more important than their politics, I just don't know anymore...

| 9. I think that post9-11 people WILL get it about the funding of terrorism. |
|
And its dealings with international governments that abetted the money laundering for their terror networks.
That was the crux of the argument then but people didn't understand the gloabal threat at the time. Post9-11 people will be interested and will get it.

if Kerry ran that as an ad.
They'd be screaming foul so loud all our eardrums would burst. ;-)
But hey, if it's too boring, it's too boring.

Unless they can find a way to make it quick and easy to connect the dots in a way that is VERY damning.

I've gotta imagine they tested all sorts of issue ads. Investigating corrupt banks probably doesn't get a good response from the target audience of TV ads. People who read and check out Kerry on their own will find out about it, I think.
