candidate formally accepting his party's nomination...coming DIRECTLY in opposition with John McCain getting very close to announcing his vice presidential pick..." Yeah-they're BOTH HUGE stories-equivalent in importance! I'm calling MSNBC right now to complain about this BS! Chris Silizza just gave this answer in response to Andrea Mitchell asking what the big story would be in the next 24 hours. :eyes:

| 1. If they were really "fair and balance" they'd tape McSame |
|
and air him later.
If they can tape Kerry to play later, just so they can have their talking heads babble in prime time, then they can tape McSame, too.

| 2. McCain picking his VP is no way as "huge" a story as Obama accepting the nomination. |
|
I guess the MSM loves the "horse race."

| 3. Rather than constantly asking how McCain will respond to the columns and celebrity, how about .. |
|
asking whether trampling on Obama's historic moment, even MLK's moment, with crass campaign intrusion is appropriate or will invite reaction.

| 4. But then, he didn't want an MLK Jr. day, either. |
|
Actually, I kind of hope he tries this stunt. At best, the MSM will have the good sense to ignore his veep announcement entirely. At worst, they'll do a split-screen, which will provide a comparison between the two candidates that will not benefit McSame one bit.

|
... if they announce it during Obama's speech. I think this whole stunt may well be met with cynicism.

Plain and simple Rovian tactics right there.
