Rasmussen now shows Bush ahead in Electoral Votes

Two weeks ago, a lot of red states were tossups, but Kerry was doing great in almost all the blue states. Now its the opposite according to Rasmussen: more blue states have become tossups and the red states have changed to mostly solid Bush.

My opinion: Swift vets have scared red state voters away from Kerry. Kerry waited a long time to respond. For some, it may be a "settled fact" that Kerry's medals are phony. I sure hope not.

Other point from Rasmussen:
"Other survey data released today shows that just 21% of Americans believe the United Nations is our ally in the War on Terror. Public assessment of France is even bleaker."

My view: This represents a big-time failure of our Dem leadership. They have allowed Bush to slime the UN and the French. I would love to hear Kerry talk about building better relationships with both. But if he says that, he is going to lose support. Too late to fix this problem now.

Rasmussen has a lot of state polls that came out in the last 2 days, including VA, MO, TN and AR - all of which were tossups but now are listed as solid Bush.

Polls show most people believe Kerry deserves his medals, and growing numbers think the WH was behind the ads. Kerry's loss of momentum may have been inevitable since he decided to go the whole month of August without running ads (a decision I agree with) while Bush had something like $50 million to spend.

13. Two points, pt II

1) I have heard a lot of talk in my area about "fake medals" and such. Its only anecdotal, but when it comes from people who don't pay attention to politics, that's frightening.

2) One poll I saw showed that a large # of vets deserted Kerry over the past two weeks. If true, taht seems to be due to the swift vets and not to a lack of ads.

I could be wrong of course.

14. I heard some

republican say something that I agreed with this morning (a big surprise). He said that although the polls are interesting to look at, that they really don't mean much until mid September. I agree with that. Don't get upset over the little changes. Their convention will give them a little bump, but by mid sept we should be ahead and I think every debate will increase the lead. I admit that I have moments when I worry but there really is nothing to worry about yet.

...when did Tennessee go red? I didn't see any more recent poll than the one here for Tennessee, and he updates this every day: http://www.electoral-vote.com/ Even the recent polls listed on the Rasmussen site don't show any changes in TN. When did this happen? Not grasping at straws, here, but I've been obsessing over these polls (and I should know better) and I've been watching TN.

17. I will get nervous when Zogby has Bush ahead.

Zogby was RIGHT on in '00.
He still has Kerry ahead.

Although, I am very worried that Kerry has not differentiated himself from bush enough. He should have taken full advantage of the war, and abuse at abu grahib.

I sincerely hope Kerry has something up his sleeve, or he will lose folling this GOP convention bounce bush will get.
