| Why is Kerry "laying low" this week? |
|
With nine weeks left, 63 days, every day is important - especially days when the media will be whooping * up and spinning repub and * lies and distortions.
Kerry should be in NYC leading the the democratic rapid response team himself. Fuck protocol - there is none for this election.
To Kerry: Please be LOUD and CLEAR he next 63 days - every day!

| 18. Forget tradition, too much is at stake |
|
The tradition is that the incumbent wins elections during "ar times" too. So, we need to break from tradition and have our candidte out there going toe-to-toe with the Republicans. Kerry needs to wake up and realize he is behind right now. There is no luxury to sit around on his stool of do-nothing.

The opposition suspends their ads during the convention. It's not a law, but it's been a gentlemen's agreement for many years.
Bush is no gentleman, but he did suspend his blitz advertising here in NM during the Dem convention (only to begin blitz Swill Boat ads once it was over).
Let's hope the fascist tea party gives Kerry enough ammo, he dumps his nicey-poo DLC handlers, and he FIGHTS.

|
(Like the ROG suspended ads during the Dem convention?)
Kerry may "lay low", but I expect surrogates to be on the offensive. (They frickin' better be!!)

<sarcasm off>
Just because JK's laying low, don't think for one minute that the campaign will be laying low. I'm sure Howard Dean and Wes Clark and Senator Clinton and the rest of the newly-formed rapid response team will be out in force to slap down all the * lies and distortions. The only thing that may slow them down is the conservative media establishment.

the media isn't going to pay attention to him anyway this week.
Besides he needs a little down time to get ready for the major offensive, that will be the next 2 months.

He sends his surrogates out to respond - Hillary, Dean, Clark, etc. He rises above the fray by not responding to the bait. It's more presidential.

With Bush really campaigning in West Virginia lately bringing up his poll numbers, John Edwards has been dispatched this week. He will be in West Va at least once this week, maybe two different rallies.
West Va was an “in play” state for a while, but Shrub really hit that state hard and got his polling numbers up. Let’s hope Edwards can put that state (and Ohio) back in play.

| 14. For the same reason * did the week before and during the DNC |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 08:57 AM by NV1962
It's called "running a professional campaign."
And that involves a multi-layered approach, where his "own" campaign, the DNC's, that of 527s, PACs, local/other grassroots organizations and communities such as this one (particularly this one!) each have a distinct role to play.
SBVTs playing the tired old game of poo-on-all-your-houses? Don't get mad - get even with LTTEs doubting *'s capacity to provide 'moral leadership' in light of his drugs abuses, his DUI arrests, his AWOL/desertion from a self-chosen alternative to the draft, his panicked incompetence during 9/11 (not just 'the seven minutes' you can see in Fahrenheit 9/11 - the 20-minute photo-op he attended after those 7 minutes is another crystal clear reminder of his inability to lead under duresse) and his, let's say, erratic response to the asymmetrical threat posed by terrorists... And of course, there's the issue of Bush proudly having his mugshot taken wearing a phony medal, courtesy Walt Starr's hard work!
Plenty of real material to hit back unsubstantiated and libelous smears with - but it's up to us to play hardball.
Not John Kerry or 'his' campaign.
So quit the whining, get off yer ass and demonstrate you want * gone after Nov 2.

Phone bank tonight, another LTTE by Friday, and posting "Treason" letters aroound town. I've been busy. Where is Kerry's response to Zell? Arnold? Gulliani? How about a pre-emptive strike on those bold visionaries.

Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 09:42 AM by bigskydem
Rest up for the debates. Thats when the media will pay attention.
Here is what I would like to see - just to be clear. John Kerry holding a press conference every night this week- rebutting the lies and distortions that the RW and the media will be playing and replaying. He is the challenger - challenge it on the eve of battle. He can do it from whereever he needs to rest, just define himself every day. RUssert, just this morning, said Americans don't know JK.
(sigh)
