| When in Rome, do as the Romans do... |
|
The Republicans thrive on division. They relish dividing our Party and dividing our country. All for power and money.
If the Democrats wanted to divide the Republican Party, what would be the issues to utilize? Many Republican women are "pro-choice". Perhaps that would be a start. Communicate with the Republican women that the nation needs them to stand up and be counted. They are equal to their men. George W Bush is not worth sacrificng their lives and their beliefs for, and should be called to task.
Another issue that many moderate conservatives are very concerned about is the debt. They are fiscal conservatives. George Bush may talk about tax cuts and smaller government but he actually increases taxes on us all when he runs up trillions in debt. We have to pay the interest on that, if nothing else. That is a tax increase. Because the Republican Congress has not cut government. They have offered up the largest budgets in this nations history. On the credit card.
These are a couple of issues that divide Republicans. Can you think of more?

Guns and the Environment
--I know a Republican lawyer in DC who is STAUNCH Republican, but has a problem with our nations fixation on guns. He also believes Bush's anti-environmental policies are wrong.

| 2. Good Political Strategy |

Take a segment in which some undecided voters can be broken off, and one in which the Bush administration has an undeniably bad record. Then concentrate on a message long enough for it to get covered and enter the public consciousness.
The deficit is one area that's ripe for GOP'ers to revolt. Civil liberties are another.

| 5. I agree that civil liberties is a big issue for many Repubs.... |

and Democrats too, I might add. Are we are talking about the Patriot Act here? I think this is an issue that Democrats could use to our advantage.

who abhor international intervention unless America's vital interests are on the line. They hate Bush's Iraq War, and they fear more of the same.

| 4. How to Divide Republicans |
|
Step One: Fiscal Conservatives. Talk to them about balanced budgets (not surpluses, but balanced budgets). Talk to them about 'Right Spending' (spending smartly and timely).
Step Two: Religious Republicans. This needs to be done more stealthily. You have to create avenues for them to speak out. America needs to hear how they want to destroy the Dept. of Education, do away with the American school system, and yes recognize Christianity as the official and only religion of the United States.
Step Three: Set out an agenda that pits Moneywise Republicans against Republican Social Engineers.
