| Kerry online vs. Bush online |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 01:24 PM by jmknapp
I signed up on the George Bush website as a volunteer a while back, to see what kinds of emails they are sending to the troops, to compare with what the Kerry campaign is sending.
These are the last few from Bush:
1. Letter from Zell Miller on why he's supporting Bush; pitch for money
2. Appeal to join a phone bank at the local county GOP HQ on Sept 2
3. Letter from Mehlman asking to help register 20 people in my local area. By clicking on a link I was presented with names, addresses and phone numbers (if available) of 20 people who presumably have voted Republican before but are now unregistered. Slick.
4. An appeal by Marc Raciot to host a convention-watching party at my house.
5. An appeal to join a voter registration drive at several local malls on Aug 28.
6. An appeal to come to the local GOP HQ in the last week of August to make 100 phone calls and receive a ticket to Bush's next appearance.
7. Letter from Jenna and Barbara Bush about how great their dad is and asking to check out the website for more about him.
-------------------------
And these are the last few from Kerry:
1. Letter from Mary Beth Cahill talking about an "end of month fundraising deadline" and asking for money.
2. Letter from MBC asking to sign a petition about the Swift Boat group and detailing a "web of connections" graphic linking them to Bush.
3. Letter from the K/E Media Corps asking to submit a question for Pres. Bush for his "Ask the President" event in Lima, OH.
4. Another MBC letter about the "end of month" deadline asking to "double your contribution"
------------------------------------------- In general, the emails from Bush are much more focussed and specific, offering actions one can take to help his campaign personally, giving places and dates and so on. Surprising few messages ask for money.
The emails from Kerry have been either appeals for cash using come-on like arbitrary "deadlines" or whining about negative ads. Not a great comparison IMO.
This is in Columbus Ohio. It may be just that the local GOP organization is good here compared to the Democratic organization.

I heard about that, but was just talking about the online presence. I would assume they wouldn't push this filth online, because there'd be no deniability.
The emails are upbeat and not negative, and are signed by real people who have to stand up to them.
I would love it if somebody could catch one of the anonymous push-pollers on tape, but that would be tricky.

all the Kerry mail I ever get is bo generic and foggy, like, okay, I don't need convincing, I need some SPECIFIC things you would like me to do.
the bush people's emails are so targeted and specific, i wish the Kerry camp would do the same :(

It seems like the Bushies learned more from the Deaniacs than Kerry & Co. did.

| 7. This explains the polls |

I have been so discouraged lately. If Kerry looses, it will be due to the Democratic infrastructure and the media. In reality, Kerry had all the advantages, plenty of cash, and I am afraid it is going to no good use.
Your post is a great example of this possible mis-management.
I do so wish somebody would either get fired or get their shit together. I am afraid that the average DU'er could run a better campaign than what we have been seeing lately.
I have been getting 4 plea's a day for money in my e-mail, and probably 3 letters every couple of weeks. I do donate, and I plan to continue canvassing and phone banking, but I would welcome the day to see a better effort from above.
