| I just realized the reason Kerry is going to win in November |
has more to do with bush & less to do with Kerry. Winning a Presidential election is all about energizing your base. Sure it helps to get more of the swing voters, but it you get your base to polls you are 90% there. Unfortunately dems are less likely to vote than repubs, but this year bush has energized our base for us & the dems will be out in force. I really believe, no matter what the polls may say one any given day, that Kerry will win in November.

| 1. as long as we get to vote and get those votes counted |
we definitely are going to win. Meanwhile, the GOP is spending a LOT of time and money trying to get their voters to the polls.

| 2. And Bush's "base" is pretty scary to a lot of moderate Republicans |
A lot of moderate Republicans might get scared away by the fundamentalist neo-cons who are in charge of this Administration.

| 3. Don't misunderestimate Bush's base. |
Yeah, overall, I'd say we're more energized, but the Bush machine is working at top speed. Luckily, most of the mobilization for Bush may occur in Southern states, so there's a ceiling of how much effect it can have in the electoral college. But don't underestimate Bush's base.
God, I just realized what I just wrote in the subject line. His butchering of the language is getting to me!

| 4. I've heard many times an election when you have an incumbant is |
a vote for or against the incumbant rather than a vote for the opponent. People look at what their current circumstances are and decide if the incumbant should be allowed to have another term or not. That's why I believe Kerry was right to be pointing out how poorly shrub has done on EVERYTHING over the last 4 years. Kerry has to state his positions on different subjects, but not be terribly specific. His big stick is still making shrub look unqualified.
