| Here's another potential media double-standard. |
|
Throughout the day, I've heard the news media state that one of the main objectives of the Republican Convention is to project Bush as a strong, war time president. I interpret this as Bush trying to say he's strong on defense, just like John Kerry did in his convention acceptance speech.
Now, many in the media have said that Kerry opened himself up to attacks from the Swift Boat vet ads and other sources by doing this. Will the media make Bush fair game and finally delve into his AWOL record? Or, will this be another media double-standard where Bush gets off, but Kerry remains under a microscope?
Another question: In his Olympic campaign ad, Bush stated that we've seen the number of democracies in the world more than triple in the past 30 years, from around 40 to more than 144. Bush has long stated that bringing more democracy into the world will stabilize it.
Does the world seem more stable to you? And has it become increasingly unstable in the past three years?
