| Poll question: Should the Democrats Have Attacked Bush More During the DNC? |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 07:03 PM by The Nation
Should the Democrats have attacked Bush more during the DNC?
From all the reports from people who have read the speeches coming tonight from Guiliani and McCain, they are going to build up Bush, yes, but they are also going to be attacking Kerry HARD.
Was it a missed opportunity by the Democrats when they decided not to "Bush Bash" at all during the DNC?

The point of the DNC was to get the Kerry vision out because most people still didn't know what he was all about; going negative would play right into W's hands. The DNC was a wild success because it was upbeat and optimistic. People knew who JK was after the convention. The RNC is going to be negative, and will contrast very badly with the DNC.

to talk about. About day 3, it will sink in that no one can talk about *. They can't even mention the "war on terror" now since * just said he can't win it.

guessed that we'd be shut out of the RNC convention coverage the way we have (As I write this, my tally says 17-2, not including "journalists" since 6:00 on CNN and MSNBC).
I thought it was a pretty good--if risky--idea not to attack at first. I thought it was a less good idea as the DNC coverage unfolded.
Now that it looks like the whores are not even going to let us on their fucking shows, it looks like we missed our best chance. Not the Kerry campaig's fault--they made a strategic decision to take the risk. It's just that in my 20/20 hindsight it looks like we got the raw end.

Perhaps the ones who said no, will change their tune. There is no level to which these fuckers will not stoop to. Just you see.

Our message came out, our stars shined.
No need to bring ourselves down to that level.
At least not at thet time.

Sometimes, people come off as desperate when they do that, and as one old woman once told me "every knock can be a break for the receiver" and I really believe that. It didn't help old man Bush when he brought out those terrible ads about Bill Clinton; Clinton whipped a setting president just the same.

where it belongs: on Bush*. They should have had Edwards, or one of the other most watched speakers list ALL of Bush*s flip-flops and made a huge issue of it. They could have compared the impact of those to Kerry's supposed flip-flops.
Done right, this would have killed half the Repug attack on Kerry. It would have left them only with the Swiftscum/soft on defense baloney.
They'll never get that chance again. Kerry might have some limited success in the debates if he attacks it head on, but by then the meme will have sunk so far into the heads of voters it will be too late.

|
there is still time, but I think it would've set the right tone to start playing clips of his flip-flops, his lies, his drunken malaprops, and the hordes of people who protest him wherever he goes in the world. This bullshit about what a great leader this coward is should be a slam-dunk to refute, if Team Kerry has the balls for it.

|
the DNC could have used a little more bush bashing which really excited the base and downed shrub during the primaries. At least let Teddy Kennedy go wild, and Howard Dean scream a little.
