We will shortly see an unusually jam-packed news cycle. Bush speaks Thursday night. The penultimate pre-election jobs report comes out early Friday morning. Hurricane Frances hits Florida mid-day Saturday.
And nobody really knows how the three will intertwine.
The security of jobs data will be sorely tested. Stock traders will be assuming Bush is crooked and will listen for clues in his address--in the language he uses about the economy.(On a related topic, why wasn't Sean Hannity visited by the FBI when he said on TV last month he had gotten a Thursday leak on the last jobs report?)
