Has anyone else noticed this among repub aquaintances?

Just my read on my repub co-workers and neighbors. These ppl were very pro-shrub in 2000 and vocal about it--like in my face vocal. This time, they're not saying a word as if there's no election going on. I find that interesting.

Part of me thinks that there are an awful lot of ppl that are currently afraid to admit they're anti-bush. People that want to remain so-called lifelong repubs but want * out of there. Ppl that will vote against him without saying so to anyone.

Or conversely, maybe they're ashamed of him but will vote anyway.

Any theories?

Are much more animated and interested when we talk about Kerry; Talking about President Bush just doesn't seem to interest them much.

2. On the contrary

My Repug co-workers are constantly talking about Kerry, and how Bush would be "better by default" because Kerry would "forfeit our sovereignity to France."

They don't have a lot good to say about Bush, but they're talking about the election non-stop.

They're secretly holding their noses and voting for someone they've convinced themselves is the less evil because they're too fucking frightened to confront the fact that Bush is the. worst. "president." EVER!!

Most say they'll vote for Bush because the "hate John Kerry."

On Pug called him a "traitor" which sent me off on a tangent.

7. I agree...they love to make anti-Kerry jokes, but

they never have a word to say about Bush. My repub friends will spout a Fox News talking point, and when everyone jumps on them and debunks it, they say, "Yeah, well old horse-face takes his orders from Ketchup-lady" or some such nonsense. Bush supporters go on nothing...empty words and emotions they don't even understand. I really think that only stupid people are still supporting Bush. Unfortunately, that is a huge percentage of our population.

I think they realize SHRUBCO* is bad for America, Thus they have lost the Courage of their convictions.
The other possability is; Coward in Chief is just soooo hard to endorse without being seen as BRAINDEAD.

11. President Reagan was the catalyst

I've noticed the same thing among my friends, but my closest Republican friends really went anti-Shrub after Reagan's death. "He sure as hell ain't no Ron Reagan" is always a good talking point around these guys. Of course, they're still voting anti-Kerry, because as we all know John Kerry is the French-speaking anti-Christ...sigh.

but with the parties reversed. Most of the challenger's supporters are enthused and most of the incumbents seemed resigned to supporting him because of "duty." But then, I don't hang out with many freepers. Most of my coworkers will vote Kerry and he'll carry my church by at LEAST 2-1.

i have not had a single person challenge me on kerry sticker. my brother and father quit talking bush a good 6 months ago. no one openly talks bush, unless i start it and generally it is on iraq.

but they are still teliing themselves like cult like behavior, he is a christian man. when i challenge, though, no one goes after me. pat answer,...............al of us are sinners

repub: kerry sucks - he didnt bleed enough and he may have never been in vietnam and he was a sucky senator and he is a baby killer and too wealthy.
me: kerry served and then protested an unjust war - both admirable. bush was face down in a line of coke somewhere in alabama at the time on his families considerable fortune. bush has trashed the economy, healthcare and killed nearly 20,000 civilians in unjustified unnecessary wars.
repub: you dems always focus on who is worse not on who is better - why cant you have a positive plan instead of just being fat michael moores pulling down the president?
me: well kerrys plan on (pick an issue) calls for ....
repub: yeah but kerry wont do that, he cant be trusted, he will flip flop to do something different.
me: like our compassionate conservative, "i won't invade other countries", fiscally responsible president who broke all of his promises?
repub: 911, 911, 911, 911, 911
me: so that justifies any ideological and religious abuse and excess that the drunken frat boy wants to pull?
repub: 911, 911
me: lets talk about 911 and the massive failures of the whitehouse leading up to it and on the day off where bush posed for photos and rummyh hid.
repub: those were all clintons fault.
me: even what bush did on that day?
repub: bush was our brave leader! even if he didnt do everything right - he is proven and tested, we know he wont letus down
me: but he did let us down and he proved that, he is letting us down now on every issue.
repub: but kerry sucks - he couldnt do better, he didnt bleed enough to ......

and back to the start. logic just doesnt fucking matter to these people any more. they need cult deprogramming to stop voting for bush.

16. Here in WAUKESHA county of all places, they don't like him.

They only say, "Well, he's doing the best he can."(that's pretty sad), "You can't get rid of the president now"(that one's a gem), "You HAVE to support the president in a time of war."(What if I don't support the war?), "Well, the Democrats would be worse"(Really? I rather seriously doubt it), "IT'S ALL ABOUT 9/11! IT'S ALL THAT MATTERS! 9/11! YEARGH!"(Calm down there).
