Did Kerry vote for the Patriot Act? Does he still support it or has he changed positions? I have a friend who said he voted for it and still supports, but that doesn't seem right.

think of the time this was broguht out. they had a problem with some of the stuff, but is only for so long. now they want to create one that is better at not taking rights and advantage of the system. a lot of dems and others had problem with areas they thought could be abused. and sure enough they have been abused

Everyone did not have to vote for the Patriot act. That argument has elements of apologism.
