Dear Sir:
As a veteran of our military I have never been more disgusted with the display put on at your convention in mocking an award given to our servicepeople wounded in the line of duty.
I find it reprehensible that your party would engage in such a cavalier act that demeans our military, especially in a time of war when we have hundreds of troops coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan permanently scared and crippled.
The Republican party has once again proven that their love of the military is confined to their usage as a political tool.

| 6. Why waste your efforts on that? |
|
Instead, why don't you send a letter to the editor of your local paper...that way, people who might not have heard about it will know?

Here is my -email:
Just when I think you people can't sink any lower, you surprise me again! That has to be the dirtiest lowdown trick yet,to wear band-aids with purple hearts on them just to take a stab at Senator Kerry......you people are making a mockery out of every one of our troops who have served in the past and are serving now who have received purple hearts. If you are such "compassionate conservatives",why on earth do you people behave this way? It's a disgrace to our soldiers and to our country,it's un-American and Unpatriotic. Please go on national TV and apologize. You people are on TV 24/7 and it's the least you can do to try to make up for this uncalled for fiasco. Shame on you and shame on the republican party for being so hate filled and mean spirited. A disgusted American

We knew you guys could go low, but last night on the floor of the Convention was a keeper. Lets tell EVERY US VETERAN that has been injured in a combat zone (no bleeding required just a Medical report, but I am sure you, Dole and the Swifties knew this), that their sacrifice is not worth it. We knew YOUR PARTY only likes to stand behind the uniform (while cutting benefits and combat pay ... and making sure supply is privatized so the troops only have LIMA BEANS, ten pallets of them, because that is all there is in theater and make sure we have to send bathroom paper and soap and shaving kits since none exist in theater) but now the rest of the country saw it. Quite frankly that was nice to see. THANKS. I am sure you have seen this by now

Texas delegate Pat Peale wears a bandaid with a purple heart on it on her chin during the first day of the Republican National Convention in New York August 30, 2004. Democrats and Democratic National Committee (news - web sites) Chairman Terry McAulliffe reacted angrily after seeing Peale on national television appearing to mock the Purple Heart ribbons awarded to Democratic presidential nominee Senator John Kerry (news - web sites) in Vietnam. Peale was quoted as saying she had gotten a purple heart earlier in the day 'swimming a river I think it was.' REUTERS/Robert Galbraith
Nadin Abbott Former Navy Wife, married to a recently retired US Navy Chief ... translation Mister Gillespie, he served 20 years honorably ... something your party no longer understands, sacrifice or honor. That is why you gleefully attack Veterans. First McCain, then Max Cleeland and now Kerry... could it be because most of you have a yellow streak running down your back as wide as the Missisipi? And no I don't have to keep this civil anymore, as you cannot keep even the apearances going. Oh and in case you wonder, don't count on my vote, or my husband's. Until 2000 I and him would have voted for the person ... this year SOLID Democratic vote... Oh in case you missed this ... shadows of 1932... didn't Hoover loose too? Oh and have a nice day and a great convention... I am sure New Yorkers will share some lattes with you ... and lets be honest, you DO drink lattes as well ... as you are truly the elite and believe in quasi Darwinian methods to run a society ... compassionate, my foot.
