George Bush is forcing my children's school to be CLOSED!
Closed on Friday, September 3rd because he will be in the Park across the street sometime during the afternoon or evening.

It is an elementary school and they are also closing a middle school and private school that are right next to the park.

My 6 year-old daughter said in the car on the way home today, "the President is coming to visit, can we go see him?"

I said only if we are going to protest. She asked why. I told her because he is a terrible president. She is a chatter box who shares every detail she hears at home with her teachers and other kids so I'm sure everyone will hear "my mom said he is a terrible president" tomorrow. I told her he wants to help the rich people that don't need help more than the people that do need help and that he sent us into a war we shouldn't have started.

She asked if we could get a better Prez, I said, yes, there is an election in two months and I am doing everything I can to make sure we get a new Prez who will do a much better job.

I'm lucky this doesn't create a problem for me about who will watch the kids that day but I'm sure others aren't so lucky.

1. I wonder if Bush will require any kids who attend
to sign a loyalty oath. Wouldn't it be interesting if anti Bush parents and their kids are turned away tomorrow?

7. My in-laws are Repubs and probably my hubby too (politics can be
a dangerous topic between us)so I have tried to be fair and not make too many partisan comments.

I focus on teaching her the values of compassion and social justice so that she will know how to analyze issues as she gets older. She is very sensitive and compassionate and I have no doubt where her heart and head will lead her as she grows.

My husband was raised in the Repub family where "Repubs were good and Dem's were bad". It is like brain washing and I didn't want to deal with politics that way. I grew up with a Dem/liberal mom and Independent(leaning Repub) dad. I liked getting both sides and I decided myself what I believed.

I'm trying to lay the foundation with my kids but I decided it is time to lay it out - why this Prez is bad for the country and world.

20. My 5 year-old son also gets off school. He had no comments.
I'm not sure what he was thinking but he seems to focus much more on how everything effects him than my daughter.

I tell him the same things I tell my daughter. He usually just looks at me and asks for a snack.

6. Would you complain if it was Kerry Edwards and the schools were
closing? Would you be upset at the Bush supporters complaining because of Kerry/Edwards coming to town? I am by no means a Bush supporter but love to delve into human nature.

10. I'm not really complaining about it or upset. It was a bit of an
over dramatic subject line - kind of as a joke.

If you read my post I'm not really bitching about them closing it. The focus is actually more on my daughter. It may make life hard for the parents that are working and have to find child care but I'm sure they do this everywhere.

11. No, I didn't but I would love to get the someone in the national media to
pay attention to a local radio ad that a man started running on his own that is playing on the radio here. Perhaps, since Shrubby is in town they could tie it in to his visit.

Here is a link to a thread about it:
