| Laura Bush's speech tonight: "He didn't want to go to war." |
|
I heard five seconds of Pickle's speech tonight on the news, and my husband's hearing may never be the same. I'm sure those in the next county heard me shrieking at the television as a result.
"Abraham Lincoln didn't want to go to war. Franklin Roosevelt didn't want to go to war. Neither did my husband."
I have one word for Laura: BULLSHIT!

Neither the DNC nor the Kerry campaign would have to pay to run it if the ad was "newsworthy" enough for it to get media coverage. Or MoveOn could run the ad.

The very ideocy of comparing Lincoln and Roosevelt to Bush has caused my head to spin. Didn't she also compare Mandela's struggle to "Bush's cause" too? HOO BOY, I'll bet Mandela REALLY appreciated that!!
I have a bumper sticker that reads BUSH LIED. My next sticker will read either Laura Lied OR Laura is a Dunce

Take that exact quote and at the end say, yeah, Vietnam! just like you have suggested here. I sent one to the LA Times. I think a lot of papers would print them to show a great spin on what she really meant. If the Kerry campaign won't hit back, let's do it ourselves.

Julie, Before DU, i used to get up Sunday mornings and scream and hiss and vent at the fool politicians and pundits. It's very hard to listen to their incessant bullshit.
And I just will not let myself watch Picklepuss. Seriously, we have to save our energy for the campaign and not waste it hyperventilating and raising our blood pressure. Or, take a zanax. All my Republican friends swear by them.
It is hard to not sneak a peek at what the fools are spewing next, but I just get so torqued I can't think straight....

Lincoln served in the militia in the Indian wars. Maybe he didn't want to go? FDR had polio, a legitimate exemption.
Bush didn't want to go to war so he went AWOL.
But as for Iraq, that war was a done deal as soon as Bush was selected. He went there for turkey dinner.

Definitely. If Laura Bush is such an expert on foreign policy, let's hope that the great Helen Thomas gets an opportunity to ask her a few questions.
I can only hope it's on live national television.
