Republican convention officials would not comment. "I don't know anything about it," said Mark Pfeifle, communications director for the four-day gathering at Madison Square Garden that winds up Thursday.

New York City - Mark Pfeifle has been named Director of Communications for the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City.
Pfeifle comes to the 2004 Convention with more than 10 years of communications experience. His professional experience includes working as a stringer for the Associated Press and managing KDRQ Radio in North Dakota. He also served as Deputy Communications Director and Principal Deputy Press Secretary for the Republican National Committee in Washington, D.C. Immediately prior to joining the 2004 Convention, Pfeifle was Acting Communications Director and Press Secretary at the U.S. Department of the Interior.
"I am extremely pleased to have Mark managing the Communications Department for this year's Convention. His extensive knowledge and wealth of media experience will be a significant asset to our team," said William D. Harris, Chief Executive Officer of the 2004 Republican National Convention.
"The 2004 Republican National Convention will play a significant role in the political process of this country and provide an opportunity to showcase the Republican Party's optimism and hope for our nation. In this era of round-the-clock cable news and alternative media coverage, we have no doubt that the Republican Party and President Bush's message will reach Americans through numerous print, radio and television sources. I am confident in the Convention's ability to project our message to the City of New York and all of America," stated Pfeifle.
