| "Nixon is the party of g.w.bush*"....Arnold has to a plant in the GOP..... |

Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 12:43 PM by ElsewheresDaughter
fucking karl rove has been duped! Arnold did Kerry a great favor with this admittance:
"But then I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting government off your back, lowering taxes and strengthening the military. Listening to Nixon speak sounded more like a breath of fresh air.
I said to my friend, "What party is he?" My friend said, "He's a Republican." I said, "Then I am a Republican!" And I've been a Republican ever since! And trust me, in my wife's family, that's no small achievement! I'm proud to belong to the party of Abraham Lincoln, the party of Teddy Roosevelt, the party of Ronald Reagan and the party of George W. Bush.
To my fellow immigrants listening tonight, I want you to know how welcome you are in this party.
THANK YOU ARNOLD! i still hate your cuts!

I've read at least 3 editorials from the Right congratulating Ah-nold for bringing up Nixon's name. There's still many RWers that think Nixon was a Saint. It might not have been wise from a moderate POV, but it earned him points with the hard-core Right.

Americans understood Nixon for what he was: a crook and someone who came dangerously close to dismanteling our constitution.

| 6. Of course Assnold would praise him because his MO is |
|
pretty much Nixon's. He hasn't had enough time to entirely follow in his footsteps. Hopefully, we will get rid of him before then.

| 7. Yes, but the area that he's lacking the most credibility is with the Right |
|
right now. They see him as too far to the left because of his stances on social issues and his marriage. He knows that not many people other than Republicans are watching him this week. He can always "charm" the rest latter. We've seen how short the public memory is the past three years. No one but the Right (and hard-core Democrats like us) will even remember his speech in a week or two.

was nothing more than "payback" for forcing Nixon to resign and exposing his "dirty ops" tactics. I've heard this from many many repuke friends (whenever I would bring up the basic unfairness of the Clinton persecution). Nixon is still a hero to these people, though as a crook, he can never be lauded as such. That's why the very NEXT elected repuke president was basically a Deity to these people (St. Ronnie).

| 10. Nixon couldn't get elected as a Republican today |
|
they've moved so far to the right that he'd be a socialist to their way of thinking.

| 2. You didn't get the message from MSNBC, this was a speech only bested |
|
by the Gettysburg Address. A very close second. "God help John Kerry!"

| 12. How long before Arnold can be voted out as CA gov? |
|
He will be voted out. Right? Since he really didn't have to run in a real election anyway. It's like he walked in and just took over the state of California. Made me sick. And I used to like the Terminator movies. Now I avoid all Arnold all the time. Or any Arnold any of the time. Ah, you know what I mean.

| 11. Nixon was NOT for "getting government off your back" |
|
Nixon was from the old school where government programs were an accepted and neccessary service to society. Reagan is the guy who began that "off your back" shtick.
