It's All About Turnout
"After Labor Day, campaigns focus on voter turnout," the Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire reports.
"Both parties expect their intense mobilization drives to boost the voter total beyond 2000's 105 million." Bush adviser Karl Rove "expects roughly 110 million to vote and thinks the party that best executes its get-out-the-vote game plan will win."
On the Democratic side, the AFL-CIO "kicked off its biggest-ever, $45 million effort last night; 15,000 unionists will go door-to-door for Kerry, including in swing states Ohio, Pennsylvania and Missouri."
"The higher the turnout," says pollster John Zogby, "the worse it is" for Bush.
