Feel the Hate

....Why are the Republicans so angry?....At some level the people at that convention know that their designated hero is a man who never in his life took a risk or made a sacrifice for his country, and that they are impugning the patriotism of men who have.

That's why Band-Aids with Purple Hearts on them, mocking Mr. Kerry's war wounds and medals, have been such a hit with conventioneers, and why senior politicians are attracted to wild conspiracy theories about (George) Soros....

But the vitriol also reflects the fact that many of the people at that convention, for all their flag-waving, hate America. They want a controlled, monolithic society; they fear and loathe our nation's freedom, diversity and complexity....

Mr. Bush, it's now clear, intends to run a campaign based on fear. And for me, at least, it's working: thinking about what these people will do if they solidify their grip on power makes me very, very afraid.

The thought of BushCo with 4 years and no re-election ahead of them is truly frightening. We will suffer the repercussions for decades, if he is re-elected.

But perhaps the anger is actually a response to their fear that Kerry may actually have the majority behind him.

This week has been nothing but a Kerry demonizing-fest, Democrat hatred-fest, 9/11 exploitive-fest; and a terror-love in and war chest thumping love-in.

The few things Bush* spoke about tonight that sounded positve for the general good of Americans lacked substance. He didn't keep his word last time, and he won't this time, either.

3. Krugman on Obama's "uplift and hope," contrasted to Zell's Dem hate

"Barack Obama, who gave the Democratic keynote address, delivered a message of uplift and hope. Zell Miller, who gave the Republican keynote, declared that political opposition is treason: 'Now, at the same time young Americans are dying in the sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan, our nation is being torn apart and made weaker because of the Democrats' manic obsession to bring down our commander in chief.' 6. This is a very immature group of feeble minded people

I just don't get it, well, I do, but still ...

During their pursuit of President Clinton, we heard them over and over wonder what they would tell their children. Then we see this group come in, and the right falls into the band-wagon of freedom fries, destroying French wind and a total disrespect of France.

They lie, they cheat, they plagerize and they re-write history.

They are purposely pitting Americans against Americans.

This all sounds immature, I guess now we could ask "What will we tell the children?" The thing is, this is all cold, hard and well-calculated. They know exactly what they are doing. It is evil. Pure evil.

Thank you for reminding us of Obama, DeepModem Mom. He spoke from the heart. He spoke the way everyone in this country should be speaking. You'd think it would be spoken by the group that claimed they are uniters not dividers.

I wish Obama was out there speaking nationally to us all.

7. Republicans have much to be angry about, mostly within their party.

Their only stars are socially liberal, like Giuliani, Arnold, Pataki, and McCain.

Hatred for gays and gay marriage and abortion and evolution and drugs and modern culture runs deep. They even have a reason to hate Cheney, now that he has given support to more toleration for gays.

The marriage of social conservatives and libertarians is an unholy marriage. When Kerry and the Democratic party seize the issue of fiscal responsibility (and they can and must!), they take away the thing that keeps the social conservatives and libertarians together. Split the Republican party by taking that issue away from them!

13. In a few days, we hit one of the two periods of maximal danger...

Period 1: After the polling "boost" from the "home run" speech is announced - Before the debates begin.

Period 2: Days before the election - just like Spain last year.

Again: Everything depends on whether "they" want to go after Iran. The massive buildup (including a draft) needed for an Iranian invasion will require a "second Pearl Harbor". Otherwise, media control and a good helping of Diebold help should be enough.
