| What are registrations like in your county? |
|
I called the Registrar of Voters to find out what was happening in our area. Good news! Registrations up about 5 percent (Typical election year is an increase of 1 - 2 percent). Democratic registrations up 6 percent. Almost no new Republican registrations. This is in an area that has almost no new housing. :bounce:
So what is happening in your neighborhood?

| 2. North Carolina, NASCAR country, registering 7 new Democrats |
|
at the county fair last night. Signed up seven new voters & met many already registered Dems who ALL plan to vote for Kerry/Edwards. This is an extremely conservative area, but with lots of "unaffiliated" registered voters. Hoping to pick up as many as we can.

They have stacks of new registrations that they have not dealt with. Democracy in trouble.

| 4. I've been doing voter reg. tabling for the past couple of months |
|
in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles). We're near some of the studios so this is a very liberal area (Waxman/Brad Sherman country) but what is heartening is the amount of voters changing their registration from Republican to Democrat. There is also a high level of commitment to get * out of office.
Even more encouraging is in the Santa Clarita Valley (north of us and much more Republican). The tables there have doen 1,200 registrations of which about 10% are switching parties (GOP - Dem).

I live in very rural, mostly Repub. Champaign County, Ohio and at the county fair a month ago, the Democratic booth stated that in the primary, the Dems picked up close to 800 new registrations and transfers from Repub. That is extremely good news considering the entire population of the county is only 36,000. Needless to say, they were quite pleased too. The tide is turning I think. Plus I've seen more Kerry/Edwards yard signs than W's. But, actually I think they have them up too early. I believe the earliest is 30 days prior to the election. But that just shows how much everyone is fired up. Also, a neighbor who has had a Support Bush/Support the Troops sign up for the past year recently took it down. Not sure if there has been a change of heart or just preparation for the new W sign. Overall -- good news.
Plus as a change of subject, I saw Kerry & Edwards last night at the midnight rally in Springfield, which is the county south of me. The crowd was awesome! Didn't get home til 2:00 a.m. but it was worth every second.
