When in reality all but the financial settlement was unsealed and his ex-wife wrote a book about her mental illness, the big factor is the end of the marriage. (And his ex-wife supports his campaign.)

Some of our fellow progressives here have a rather curious political identification problem. They suffer from Ralph Nader Syndrome. Symptoms include incessant criticism of Kerry and willful distortion of his positions. Root cause of the condition appears to stem from their guy losing in the primaries. Sadly, they apparently want our guy to lose, so they can spend the next 4 years telling us that they were right and we should have listened to their political wisdom.

Not to be confused with George Bush Syndrome. GBS is a simple anonymous deceit where supporters of GWB post here under false pretenses. While the symptoms are quite similar, the underlying pathology is quite different.
