Just saw a recent poll on CNN showing that Bush is leading Kerry by 12pts. Is it too late? If not, what should we do that we have not been doing. We have 2 months to get our asses in gear! Also what are the chances of us winning back both houses? Will that be affected by what Kerry is or isn't doing? If it sounds like I am panicking you are right. I am scared shi@less right now!

concerned is a better word. Besides I am just getting on here tonight. I was just talking to my sister in Atlanta and she said that she was calling undecided voters all during the convention last night. I am reading some of the other posts about Kerry, so I will try to get to speed. I am just getting VEry worried right now, but I do think his speech in Ohio last night was a great move. It is time to take the gloves off and if it gets ugly, it just gets ugly.

Zogby has picked the winner each time. And he picked Gore in 2000 and Gore won by more than 500,000 popular votes. Then Jeb and Katherine stole Florida.

Down here we are looking for votes wherever we can find them. feel free to IGNORE those major media nationwide polls. They are meaningless, and probably fake propaganda anyway. The only polls that offer a clue are the state-by-state polls evaluated with respect to electoral college votes. And they are only just so helpful. Bush is toast.

Here's an unscientific poll for you. My GUT tells me this poll is wrong. All day I thought about it. How could bush and Kerry be dead heat for 3 months and BINGO RNC happens and bush jumps 11 or 12 pts.
It wasn't THAT good and his record stinks. I don't believe the polls.
Do you believe in Justice? Do you believe Justice is blind. Do you believe the USSC was right to select the President based on a bullshit 'equal protection clause'.
Do you believe the press is the Fourth Estate. Do you believe the press has liberal bias?
The only poll that matters is the one on Nov. 2. Get out the vote.
Cheer up bunky - we work hard, donate $$$ we'll win.

The sampling is screwed. There is no way it was truely random
You don't have an election neck and neck, and then suddenly have a 12 point shift when essentially nothing profond has changed. Most people did not watch the conventions.
The only explanation is that they messed up.
Right after the Democratic convention they were all yelling how the only way it would be considered successful is if Kerry got at least a 10 point bounce. After the convention they pushed that he in fact lost points, which was not really accurate.
Don't you find it strange that they suddenly get a 10 point bounce from the republican convention. This is a setup. DO NOT BELIEVE IT. In a few days you will see the real results of the polls...

...is that, while the notion of a post-convention "bounce" is a real one, it seems that what you wind up with just after the second convention is generally the way it stays. As a matter of fact, looking back over every election since 1968, I can't think of a single case where the candidate leading in the polls just after the second convention didn't triumph at the ballot box in November. (And, in case you're wondering, that includes 2000 -- after the second convention, Gore was leading in the polls and, indeed, he got the most votes on Election Day...)
What this would suggest to me is that, in overtaking Bush between now and the election, Kerry will have to pull off something that hasn't been done since...when? 1960? (But that was the election where Nixon and the Republicans didn't take into account the visual effect of the televised debates, as opposed to the words that were spoken.) Maybe 1948???
I'm not saying it's impossible. It's just that, from my experience of the past forty years or so, it hasn't been done so far.
:-(

and concerns is what we need. It is time that we stop sweeping dirt under the rug. Kerry has taken a beating from the swift boat ads and the repubs came out swinging at their convention. If someone hits me, I hit back even harder that's what I want. Call me vengeful. Also, this post was not meant for everyone to state who is the better democrat, by how many voters he or she has registered. That is like the repubs saying that they are better Christians than the democrats. Give me a break and let's come together and make this happen. And we wonder why people feel disenfranchised. Get off of this elitist bullshit!!!!! Bash me all you want.

I noticed the thread about the flawed methodology, and would have found it convincing, EXCEPT:
-- the polling organization corrects for the biases inherent in the selection group, and
-- the same flaws were in the samples for that organization's previous polls...the ones that showed Kerry even or tied.
If there was something specific about the polling methodology for the 9/2 results, that would be one thing. If that particular poll had always shown a sizeable skew toward Bush, it would be another. But, however we may want to deny it, by using what appears to be the same methodology that generated close results (and even some Kerry leads) in recent polls by the same group, there has been a sudden and quite large shift to Bush. Granted, we'll get a better picture in the next couple of weeks, as more post-convention polls are reported. But it seems the height of denial to decide to simply dismiss polls that give results not to your liking...unless you can show real evidence that this specific run of the poll was flawed. So far, that hasn't been done in this case.
