Mary Cheney's sad "Fuck You" (she runs Cheney's elec. campaign)

So Mary Cheney not only didn't appear on stage tonight after the president spoke, even though her entire family DID appear, but according to the New York Times SHE WASN'T EVEN SITTING IN HER FATHER'S BOX DURING BUSH'S SPEECH. Presumably, that means Mary didn't even attend Bush's speech at all.

It's possible Mary's in a hospital bed somewhere suffering from some tropical disease, and that's why she couldn't make it to the president's BIG address, but then we'd probably have heard about it by now. More plausibly, knowing Mary, at least knowing how her friends have described her, her very hot little temper probably got all pissed off that the press has been incessantly asking why she attended her father's speech last night with her lover but then REFUSED to go on stage with her family after dad's speech. Mary's response to such questions? To give a big "fuck you" to America by not attending at all tonight. That way she doesn't have to decide whether or not to go on stage, nor does she need to decide whether to bring her lover with her or hide her in the nose-bleed seats. If you're not in the audience, you don't need to decide.

Of course, what Mary fails to realize is that it begs even more questions now that the vice president's lesbian daughter, who also happens to be running his vice presidential election campaign, doesn't even deign to show up for the president's BIG speech. That's just bizarre. It's the kind of thing that would get you fired if you weren't the VP's kid. The only reason Mary didn't show is because Mary's a dyke and the GOP hates dykes. Rather than stand proudly with her father, alongside the bigoted presidential candidate she's working hard to re-elect, she goes into hiding, afraid to face to the consequences of her own increasingly bad choices.

1. Mary's not the problem.
It's her father and his policies you should go after. Cheney doesn't even have the balls to defend his own daughter when his party goes after her.

2. Makes you wonder how "powerful" Cheney really is.

4. Yeah, poor Dick....ordered to hide his lesbian daughter....
Face it, Dick's compassion was as phony as everything else about Buckaroo Halliburton

6. Oh, he is powerful, make no mistake
But he knows which side his bread is buttered. He'd rather sacrifice his own flesh and blood for the sake of the party...

Powerful yes. Courageous? That's an entirely different matter.

7. But then why does she work on his campaign?
I can't figure that woman out. Why would she work against her own interests? I think she might be her own problem...maybe she simply doesn't have her head on straight?

10. Unfortunately, family just may be more important to her.

A lesson Dick should grow to learn the next time someone like Keyes goes after her daughter. I keep pressing this because if it was my son someone went after, I don't care who it was, I would fight them tooth and nail.
But Cheney is an insult to real family values.

But come on, would we expect anything less from a party that runs on the message of supporting our troops then hands out Purple Heart band-aids mocking there injuries? A group that supports the war in Iraq yet their own Young Republicans, can't stop thinking of excuses not to join the military?

13. I think I understand what you are saying
but let me do it this way. You can still love your parents but you don't have to actively support their sick policies and goals. My family is basically GOP supporters but you know, I don't go out and WORK for their candidates anymore than they would work for my Democrat candidates. We sort of call it a draw. Or I look at Michael and Ron Reagan and I think neither one looks like they dishonor the ol' man and they both obviously love their father. And Ms. Cheney can love her family very much...but draw the line at helping them? Not a big deal, not something to slice and dice, dissect, but I still would love to see a shrink's report on her. She might be super-dependent on daddy or something.

3. If Dick Cheney had a "Sophie's Choice"
between Mary and Elizabeth, whom would he save? Who would he condemn to death? I can guess.

It is a profoundly evil idea that one child could mean more to a parent than another child. This is proof that Republican "family values" are sick and twisted Social Darwinism.

8. Or, as Bush's ad wonders, which child to pick up first on 9-11

11. Maybe that was a subliminal message to parents of gay
children to choose their straight children.

12. I was thinking about her not being on stage and I wondered if it was her
protest to the bush plan. She works for her dad's campaign and gets a salary...it may be nothing more than that....and shes getting experience for the future...maybe her own public office run.

We assume her absence was his idea...it may have been her protest.
