| Bush's Heart and Soul strategy - "Americans are stupid" |
|
We finally saw what Bush believes to be the heart and soul of the American people at the rebublican convention.
Malicious ridicule of others instead of careful evaluation of what need to be done to protect working americans.
Blind faith instead of attention to critical issues. Blaming others instead of practical and creative problem solving.
A willingness to believe words instead of actions when be makes empty campaign promises when the only one he was willing to fulfill in 4 years was his tax break to the top 2% income brackets.
Bold hypocrisy - supporting the war in Iraq but unwilling to sacrifice and serve. Telling lies to slander the voting records of others and to sell policies to Americans.
Worst of all the willingness of Americans as evidenced by the republican delegates to enthusiastically follow a leader in malicious and hate filled attacks on other Americans in a blind and foolish manner that led me to think of those who followed Hitlers rants with naive rapture (mindless enthusiastic flip flop, flip flop chants).
Bush's heart and soul campaign - get real. George Bush is counting on these "values" to get him elected. In other words, Bush vervantly hopes Americans are studid.

| 1. And it seems that he's being proven right by a large number of people. |
|
Too lazy to think about what's really going on, to dumb to form logical and rational conclusions if the even made the effort.

a sizable majority of Americans are ignorant of his policies (as well as public policy in general) and either lack the interest, intelligence or time to consider them on a rational basis.
That's one reason why appeals to emotion and endless repitition of fabrications and mischaracterizations are so successful-

"You can never underestimate the intelligence of the American voter", H.L. Mencken.
Words to live by. Unfortunately, we Dems don't get it.

| 7. We don't need to fight it, we need to use it to our advantage! |
|
We can manipulate the uninformed as well, if not better, than the Repugs--but only if we try. We don't even have to resort to out and out dishonesty either, like they do.
The key is to get elected and then govern responsibly. Even if you have to dumb down your message to get elected and exaggerate on occasion, the end in this case does justify the means.

| 11. You got it, ambush. We need to treat the American people just |
|
as Bush has been treating them -- as ignorant and uninformed -- and we will have a fighting chance. At least our side won't screw them to the wall with wars, tax cuts for the rich, etc.
God knows the truth, even the truth that stares them in the face (read "What's the Matter with Kansas?"), doesn't seem to wake them up. Things would have to get so bad that the country was basically in a Depression, with a quarter of the population in shanytowns and begging for food, before these morons would wake up.

| 5. That has been the entire strategy from the beginning. |

Find all the areas in which Shrub is legitimately vulnerable, then turn the tables by attempting to smear Kerry with the charges. The Naked Emperor weasels out of service in Viet Nam with some string-pulling, then goes aWol anyway; Cheney chickenhawks out with 5 deferments. So they have no record to run on - what's the answer? Make the guy who volunteered look bad! Lie about his record, smear him good. And the mutant sheep being led to the slaughter bleat obligingly and trot along to the party line. Shrub has reversed himself on, and blatanly lied about, too many issues to enumerate, so what's the answer? Define Kerry as a flip-flopper! Don't mention that many of Kerry's votes matched those of Cheney the Dick...just put the lie out there a lot, and with the complicity of the rabid, right-wing media whores, it'll be mistaken for factual information or even news!! Shrub has presided over the worst job scenario since the Great Depression, and hmm, can't blame that on Kerry, so what's the answer? It's CLINTON'S FAULT! (The old standby.) The tired mantra of "9/11 Changed Everything" is getting real old. 9/11 didn't change Osama bin Laden into Saddam Hussein; 9/11 didn't change Al Qaeda into Iraqi insurgents and innocent civilians; and 9/11 sure didn't change a pResidential photo-op on a pile of rubble into "leadership." What a fuckin' joke this would be, if these filth were not so dangerous. Pure evil.

The Republicans always project their failures and evil onto others. The fact that they get away with it is both amazing and amazingly sad.

| 9. Projection seems to be an effective tactic |
|
kind of supports the original poster's contention that Bush thinks Americans are stupid (and the fact that it seems to work indicates that Bush may be right).

| 6. So, why doesn't Kerry think about utilizing |
|
this apparently effective strategy? You know as well as I do that Americans are stupid. He's just exploiting that fact. That's, well, smart!
