I’ve been a supporter of the market and business all my life, from the first when my dad owned a grocery store. I’ve either been in business or run a business all my adult life. But this market mess made me sell everything and have some cash to sit on/live on in my retirement. If Obama wins, the DOW will drop to under 5,000. It won’t be until 2010, when an enraged public decimates the Dem congress, until it will stop. By then there will be over 100 million Americans destitute. The damage to the country may be irreversable. I am not joking when I say I am glad I live near plenty of fresh water, in the country, am trained and well armed, and have my cash to tide me through. I will, like many other people, simply fade out of the known economy and do what I have to do. I don’t know five people my age who work for a corporation and get regular W-2 pay. We are survivors.

I am not arguing your point, BUT and that is a big BUT, it will only be good when we see Ried, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd, Obama, Raines, Kerry, etc etc etc, facing charges too, AND found guilty!
THEY THINK THE TRIAL WAS HELD IN ALASKA:

Emmet G. Sullivan moved to Alaska for this trial.
Or not. I can't remember which it is...

THERE IS NO ALASKA JURY:
To: Non-Sequitur
I don't know what the Alaskan Jury did, but the jury in Washington, DC convicted Stevens. Same city that acquitted the dope head Marion Barry.

No, the crime was committed in Alaska.
A guilty man was railroaded. Wrong venue. Exculpatory evidence withheld, and the apparent one holdout juror was removed and replaced this morning.

And the house seat. I bet Young goes down.
THE VERDICT CAME WHEN IT CAME BUT THEY BELIEVE IT IS A CONSPIRACY:
To: pabianice
So now we know WHAT will make headlines in the evening news...sigh..looks like we can't get a break! How conveniently this had to come out 7 days before the election. I'm so tired of the mediaPUKERS.

"Judge Emmett Sullivan today ruled that Ted Stevens will have to stand trial in D.C. where he allegedly committed the seven felonies for which he is accused." That would be lying on the Senate financial disclosure forms, in D.C...

And another step closer to the supermajority for the Socialist Party in the US Senate....
Way to go Ted, you F**** us all!!! Thanks so, so, so, so, so much for your loyalty to your country and your party.

He may have also screwed himself by his hunger to stay in office. He demanded an immediate trial rather than take the usual white collar criminal route of delaying the trial for years. He’d eventually been able to find a doctor to declare him too ill for trial and it’d been dismissed.

The replacement can only serve till election day.
Is that the law in Alaska? In most States, the term of an appointed replacement lasts until Jan 3, when the elected Senators are sworn in. If the newly elected Senator takes office on Nov 4th or 5th, then his term in office would be longer than 6 years, which is longer than the Constitution stipulates.
How did Alaska manage to pass that law?

“And if OBAMA pulls out this election, I’m expecting to see the DOW drop TO 218!!”
Some Elliott Wave theorists expect the Dow to move below the 1929 peak of 381.17; how this could possibly happen is an interesting matter for speculation.
A much more likely bet is we will break the 1 to 1 ratio between the Dow and an ounce of gold we saw in 1980.
A JUROR'S DAD DIED AND HAD TO GO BUT THEY BELIEVE THIS:
To: pabianice
They had to get a juror kicked off the jury last week to get this verdict.

“You are mistaken. MSM will lead with this story tonight and interrupt the McCain momentum.”
You are assuming the MSM would have led with something positive for McCain in the first place. If anything, this will hurt Obama because for the first time in weeks they might lead with something other than a story about how Obama will save the planet within a week of taking office. The news during this last week is Obama vs. McCain. Not a Senator from Alaska.
THIS PART SLAYS ME:

It’s mind boggling...
Admitted into Harvard Law with average grades and no money...
Made the Editor of the Harvard Law Review without no notable writings to speak of...
A seven-figure advance to write an autobiography (when NOBODY knew who the hell he was)...
An executive job administering a $50 million education grant (with no executive experience)...
A state senate seat, just handed to him...
A U.S. Senate seat that he wins running practically unopposed...
This man has glided, GLIDED, to the precipice of the most powerful position on earth. It’s surreal what we’re witnessing.
He’s either the antichrist, Chauncey Gardener or Forrest Gump. Take your pick.

Any Republican can not get a fair trial in D.C. Look how they convicted poor ol Scooter Libby. Any RAT that goes to trial in D.C. is found innocent. Talk about a Kangaroo Court.
Not saying he was not guilty of something, but there are RATS like Dodd and Frank who will never be tried for anything.
I hate to lose a sure Senate seat and have it happen right before the election. PFFFT!

Just got an idea! Draft Todd Palin so he’ll have a job in DC along with Sarah.

And didn’t Congress pass a law after 2006 stripping convicted Congressmen and Senators of their pensions?

Look; I carry no brief for Stevens nor do I give him much of the benefit of the doubt. He got work from people who owed him favors for little or no money. Regular people don’t get that kind of benefit.
I am tired of it from Dems and I am extra tired of it from Republicans who say that they are better than Dems and can’t prove it.
Stevens is also one of the most ear-marking SOB’s in Congress and because of Representatives like him we can’t get rid of the pork. Pork which is killing all of us. I got nothin good to say about him even if he is “innocent” of making the false statements that he is alleged to have made.

The perfect storm. My brother, who is in NYC finance, told me that it was sheer luck for the RATS that the financial meltdown occurred in early October and not 7 weeks later - after the elections.
And now the Stevens verdict.
Personally, I think the country is in real jeopardy if we can’t hold with 42 or 43 GOP senators.
Fate - or Providence - is a Democrat this year.

Don’t know the law in Alaska.
He won his primary.
The election will go on.
Most likely, Alaska is not Louisiana and Stevens will lose.
