However, I do think that the fear is there about a Black person being in a powerful enough position to turn the table on white people for the long and violent episode of racism in America. That's why some even say stupid things like Obama is going to put "Revs. Wright, Sharpton and Jackson in the Cabinet" and he's going to paint the White House "in black".


Even though the sayings are quite stupid, it does convey a true fear of what a person of color might do to white people. It's not going to happen, but that's what they feel. That's why they are being so reactionary.

...when a person is racist it has nothing to do with the race they are hating. They actually hate themselves. But as a defense mechanism, the psyche projects that hate onto a group of people. Wrong on so many levels I can't even find a voice for it. One thing that struck me is how stupid they are about is their definition of an "Obama supporter". Obama supporters are even found in their own neighborhoods, their own organizations, in their own freaking back yards, which I guess hasn't crossed their minds. I have been amazed, pleasantly at times, by just how diverse Obama supporters are, and it is a good thing. There is strength in those kinds of numbers. People don't have to be identical clones in order to join together to achieve a goal. Proof that it works against you is found in the repub method used to promote McCain - they didn't reach out to anyone other than their own fundies, and I didn't see much diversity of opinion or person there. And how'd that work for them? No wonder they are missing the boat on what is prompting the nation to find Obama way more acceptable than McCain/Fruitcake.

The reason these close minded morons are in such trouble is that Obama is just plain making sense to people in many walks of life. And even for those who have reservations, the repubs pick of both McCain, but esp. Palin turned a lot of them (esp. repubs) into Obama voters almost overnight. Yet they are still worshipping the the Shrilla from Wasilla, while loading their cars with canned goods and stocking up on ammo for the coming "race riots."

There are going to be some sad freepers on Wednesday; both because they lost and couldn't see it coming, and also because it is the end of their story - no race riots to justify their positions, no reason for them to pretend they just had to "act out", no nothing. Gonna go out like a whimper - the quiet sound that history makes when it has consigned a group to the junk pile.

Transitions scare people. Transitions are what makes us move either forward or backward. This one is headed forward, and freepers are correct that their former positions of power based on fear are gone with the wind after tomorrow, at least muted for a certain period of time to allow better things to fill the void. Our nation had moved on from freeper types being the dominant force in politics/the presidency awhile back, and the election results are merely providing proof of that. Its not like they haven't had fair warning, or had a chance to at least change what it means to be a freeper/republican into something more positive than the superstitious, bigoted, whining crap they are still offering. it takes an awful lot of angst and anger to make people pick up arms in way that would threaten the fabric of our society, and all we've seen of late is apathy from that element. Not saying there won't be isolated incidents - there are already plenty of instances of man's inhumanity to man in the news daily.

But a societal war? Been there, done that - the Civil War between the North and the South. Heck, before, during and after that war, we were at war as invaders, almost creating genocide of the resident native americans here. For the last 8 years, I've dabbled in my own quest to go "back to the land" and be less reliant on modern conveniences. Because of that interest, a lot of the info I seek (gardening, storage, animal care, etc) ends up landing me on some boards that have a tinge of fundie/close minded/repub/fear based thinking. Lots of stuff triggers their race war/societal upheaval fantasties, and off they go to do their canned food drives and target practice. Did you know there would be race riots after Y2K? Oops, didn't happen. And in the aftermath of 9/11, because the blacks would identify with the muslims and use the opportunity to take out the whites? Oops, didn't happen. Repeat after every scare we'd had, from bird flu epidemics to tainted Chinese food products, supreme court decisions that enforce church/state separations, you name it. Gonna be time to pick up arms! Race wars! I'm really serious this time, take back our country! I must have sleep through all those civil wars:)
