The picture of shrub's TANG history comes together neatly

I recall reading the account of how shrub got the job working on that campaign in Alabama. It was the one told by the wife of the guy Poppy asked for help. The shrub was such an embarrasment to the Bush family because of his behavior (boozing and drugging) they wanted him out of sight for a while.

If he was in the Guard at the time and acting so poorly with drinking and carrying on - how the heck could he have been flying military jets or taken his required physical?

Seems to me that the various first hand source accounts of events back then dovetail neatly. Are there any leaks regarding his being in substance abuse treatment at that time?
