i did not read the 911 report and will not because it does not hold anyone accountable for the worst terrorist attack on our soil....it is worthless....but here you have Cheney going around saying vote for us or else and these are the guys who were in charge of keeping us safe on September 11, 2001....what a fucking joke these guys are....

| 2. I'm sure it's true, but I'm surprised it's in the 9/11 report |

I browsed the book in the bookstore this weekend, and it was REALLY light on Bush et al and their reactions (or lack thereof) on 9/11. I put it down in disgust.

This was the area that I read first ("The System Is Blinking Red"). GWB was on vacation and the report said that there was no evidence after the Augut 6 PDB of ANY communication between Bush and anyone in his administration from August 6-September 11.
I thought that little sentence would get a lot more play than it did.

Read page 183. it describes a Clinton trip to Pakistan in March of 2000. He was already scheduled to go to India, and he wanted to go to Pakistan to try to engage in negotiations to get Bin Laden with Musharraf (who had just recently come to power). The CIA stated in the strongest possible terms that Clinton should not go because they could not guarantee his safety. Clinton insisted he go anyway, to "offer him the moon" to help him get Osama.
So on the one hand, you have a president who decides that this issue is so important that he's willing to put aside threats to his personal safety. And, on the other hand, you have a president who vacations in Crawford and ignores the problem.
Which president do you think should have a reputation as being tough on terror and having the best interest of the country in mind?
