The latest Zogby has Kerry a three tenths of a percent ahead of Bush in FLorida as well.

As for all of the battleground states, Zogby ha Kerry leading in 12 out of 16 battleground states. Bush leading in 4.

Kerry's leads in 4 of these states are significant leads, Nre Mexico, 9.7%, Washington 8.5%, New Mexico, 9.7 %, and Michigan 6.6 %.

In the 8 other states Kerry's leads are, Florida .3%, Iowa 3.7%, Minnesota 6.8%, Missouri .4 %, Nevada .6%, New Hampshire 4.7 %, Pennsylvania 2.8%, and Wisconsin 2.8%. By the end of the Republican Convention last week, Kerry was behind Bush in 12 or these battleground states, but the Bush Bounce does not seem to have lasted for much time accoring to these latest polls from Zogby released today.

4. From what I've seen,

the hurricanes seem to be impacting GOP-heavy areas more than Dem-heavy areas. If a turnout in those GOP areas is a mere 1 or 2% lower than normal due to people "being too busy to vote because they're rebuilding their lives," it might actually decide this thing.

Secondly, with more disasters comes more tension and pressure on The Powers That Be. With this comes increased chance of TPTB screwing something up to the point of majorly pissing voters off. And even if TPTB themselves don't screw things up, the disaster victims may get generally frustrated with the scenario and take it out on TPTB.

(sorry.. trying to make lemonade from this destruction..)

To answer your post.. not sure. Something tells me that paper ballots will be offered as a last-ditch route. Just a gut feeling.

And, by the way: this is the week after Bush's convention. This should historically be his high point as far as polling is concerned - and this is the best that he's doing? Sucks to be him! Assuming that Zogby's methodology is sound, I'll say it right now.. the Chimp is toast.

6. Jeb Bush has his work cut out, stealing Florida for G.W. again.

A Florida judge ruled that there must be some paper trail to back up the touch screen voting machines now being introduced in Florida. It is telling that Jeb and his minions are fighting this ruling rather than complying with it. Clearly they don't want an honest election.

As for the contention that the hurricanes hit areas that are mostly republican, and many people are too busy cleaning up to vote; I would say that republicans don't live in mobile homes; democrats do. Therefore more democrats lost their homes than republicans.

However here is a bright note: people who lost their homes also lost their phones, and so they are not included in current polls. Also many of us Floridians spend our summers up north, and so cannot be reached by pollsters. I for one will be returning to Florida in October, and voting for Kerry in November!
