How many campaigns had he worked on up to that point? Since he was such a slough, who would really want him to work on their campaign? With everything that was happening with the NG at that time, I do not think we have heard the truth about the "Alabama political" campaign. Could it be that went to Alabama to work on the campaign as a cover for his "demotion" or whatever was about to happen to him at that time? No, he wasn't sent to Alabama because he screwed up in Texas and was not permitted to fly and because he failed his physical and refused an order to take another? He was demoted to Alabama but to preserve some dignity in the Bush family, they said he was going to work on a campaign? At least, that wasn't as embarrassing. No doubt, someone called the Alabama campaign and requested that they accept Dubya's help on the campaign. It was an excuse for why he was not flying anymore and was a cover for Bush Sr....

I never noticed before that on 24 May 1972, he listed his qualification as 1125B and not 1125D. That is fascinating!

When asked to note his Air Force Specialty Code, Bush wrote down 1125B, the designation for F-89 or F-94 pilots. At the time of his transfer request, both of these planes had been retired from service in all components of the Air Force, including the Guard and Reserves. Bush's accurate code was 1125D, designing an F-102 pilot. At the time, F-102 planes were still very much in use. It was an error Bush made more than once on the application. Lukasiak writes: "The odds of Bush being able to scam his way into a non-training unit would be enhanced if his specific skill set was one which was no longer useful to the Air Force."
