This is the Mcain that I had defended here on DU.....

Up until about two years ago. It pained me to announce that I no longer would defend him after he allowed the GOP to take over his campaign.



It pained me as an American Naval Aircrewman to renounce John McCain on this site; his experiences are still being taught in Damage control classes and Navy SERE training. He is saving Americans sailors lives to this day and will do for a very long time to come.

If he had stayed the coarse, he may very well have not been announcing his concession speech. I am not trying to be little my happiness that Barrack Obama has won, I still hope for a democratic sweep before the nights end. I have posted here for many years; those that know me know that I have campaigned hard for change. It is just sad in my opinion to see the results of selling your once honorable soul to the Devil. Sorry John, but you brought it on your self, god be with you and let your conscience be your guide in the future. I hope that you have learned from your mistakes and will caucus with the Democratic Party from now on. Fair winds and following seas shipmate!

If the wretch meant one word of this, he could not have run the campaign he did.

He will go down in history, and properly so, as a man without honor, who sold his soul and his country by banking on the hope racist hate still ran deep enough here to put him in the White House.

It was if he woke up from a 2 year funk. Once upon a time, he was a Social conservative with a genuine desire to promote Ideas that, at least from his point of view, were good for america as a whole. However, during this bid for the white house, and especially after the nomination, that McCain was gone. It was if he sold his soul to the Neo con- fascists believing there was no other way to get elected on a republican ticket. He let go the reigns of his campaign, and accepted any fucked idea thrust upon him (Sarah Palin). I'm sure, in hind sight, he is probably thinking" damn, If I had to lose anyway, I should have done it my way and at least gone down as a decent Human Being." Well, tough shit Jonny. When you play dice with the devil, you always lose.

Since it's over, there is no reason to hold a grudge now. It's time to unify the country. If not for the country...then for himself because Obama's going to be the next president and he has to suck up to him.

4. He did give a very good speech tonight

I have written him a few thank you letters over the years (long ago) for his votes in the senate, back when he WAS a "Maverick". It's been sad to watch him fall so far since BushCo got him to play ball. I hope that he'll return to his old ways now and help our new President heal the Nation.

I quit defending him years ago. I said he should have ran his campaign like like that the entire time. I am hoping this is the end to divisive politics "Rovian" style. I think we have witnessed the funeral of KKKarl Rove and his keep America divided tactics, John McCain has finallly come to that conclusion himself and did the right thing in the final analysis.

I'm just making my point on as many McCain-centric threads as I can.

However, I disagree with you that this was the *old* McCain.

There has only ever been one McCain: a man who fucks up and then apologizes for it and is then lionized for having the guts to apologize.

If you keep doing bad things, it doesn't make you good to later admit what you did was bad. And that has been McCain's entire career.
