| Are You Holding Your Breath?? |

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't. The next "round of polls" better show Bush coming down and Kerry going up because of the PURE propaganda of it all, or I'm not sure we are going to pull this out. I'm praying, for example, that a Time or Newsweek poll has Bush falling to at least 49% (under 50) and Kery rising to 45%. It's all about the perception and propaganda value. If Bush holds in these polls to 8-11 point lead and is above 50%, don't ever underestimate the pyschological impact on the Dem voter. We keep telling ourselves that it's only a bounce of one degree or the other right during and after their convention. It damn well better not only go away; but go away fast. I just saw some ABC/WP 'survey' posted below and it wasn't good. There has to be a significant movement, literally, by the next big poll release or we have a 'psychological' problem on our hands.

is to discourage the Democratic voter, especially activists. Don't believe them.

not but M/M America is paying shit attention to the things we discuss at places like the DU among people who like politics. All they have to hear in the next round of the 'big polls' is that Kerry just isn't getting anywhere, and I can tell you after watching this stuff for almost 50 years, it's going to be next to impossible to get enough Dems motivated to do the trick. One might have a "Dem" designation on their voter registration but don't fool yourself that everyone is as fired up as us. Most people just go with the flow.

| 10. I ask folks around where I work |
|
and none of them seem to be aware of any polls. I'm not talking of folks that are really following politics. Most of them are more interested in making sure they have money for food and shelter than the news, and NONE say they really sit down and watch the news. Sure, it isn't a scientific poll, but it makes me wonder how many folks are really listening.
If you find folks you talk to believing these polls, tell them the truth on Bush, and keep them voting Kerry.

| 6. Don't believe them...<< Brilliant!! I have an observation.... |
|
When the talking heads are justifying the incredible destruction we are doling out in Iraq, to their cities, their holy places, their people, their psyches etc... they say "I'd rather fight them over there than over here".
Now.. I have a real problem with this rationale because...... these people.....
A: Weren't terrorists.
B: Weren't thinking of becoming terrorists.
C: Probably would help us fight terrorist under different circumstances.
D: View us as terrorists and colonialists.
E: Would probably help terrorists do whatever it is that they have in mind in the future concerning our interests.
F: Might now become terrorists in the future... after having lost cousin, brother, sister, mother, or father in this insane, illegal, immoral, ill thought out, piece of crap invasion of Iraq.
Just my two cents.....

college professors (I double-majored in English and Poly Sci) that people psychologically want to vote for a winner and that polls are influential in that they indicate who a winner might possibly be and therefore, not only can indicate a winner but can sometmes sway undecides--who as we already know, aren't that very bright to begin with. I mean, how the hell can you be undecided about this election?

| 7. I disagree with the theory that undecideds are dumb.. |
|
I think many people tell pollsters they are undecided because they do not want to be honest about their intentions.
Also, I personally know some undecideds who are completely informed, & do not like either candidate. These people may well stay home.
And then you do have undecideds that are clueless.

That is the best assessment I've heard. If that isn't comforting, nothing is. Now it's just Nader, and theft. And we are already ahead in those areas. :)

| 13. Exactly, both sides have a reliable 44-45% |
|
I mentioned that in a thread last night. So any poll that shows a 7+ point lead for either side has been glorified garbage all year.

The only poll that counts is on Nov. 2 and I feel Kerry (despite what the media says) is running a solid campaign.
I think people will realize that Kerry will be a strong, decisive leader.
