remember that gay Americans suffered major blows to their basic rights and liberties. I hope that we can all work to help enlighten our nation's citizens and achieve the equality that is their birth right.

I'll take today's scenario. At least we still have hope.

| 6. Thank you. As a lesbian, I ask one thing of my fellow Democrats today. |
|
Don't let this divide us! The majority is always trying to divide minorities from one another, because they know if we all band together, we can accomplish amazing things.
Proposition 8 and similar measures are deliberately timed to divide GLBTQ people from everyone else. Don't let them succeed. Continue the fight for human rights.
Thank you.

Scapegoating one minority for the broad based discrimination against another will have Democrats divided and battling and vilifying each other before inauguration.

My friends and family in CA worked to prevent this from becoming a reality and I wish I had done more.
I just didn't know. I got complacent. I thought that in CA saying no to Prop 8 was a given.
Forgive me. I will do whatever it takes to make this right.

Last night, was a time of great joy on Obama winning, but this morning, as I read my local paper and the state's election results, some of that happiness has been replaced by disappointment and frustration.

At least Obama and Biden spoke more openly about gay rights than any other candidate that's gone that far. It's just a matter of time. Remember, don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

| 13. for me it's like when Lieberman beat Lamont here in CT in 2006. |
|
I couldn't be happy about whatever good came from that election cycle because he won after he LOST the primary and ran as an independent ("CT for Lieberman" was the party listed on the ballot) and all the CT GOP voted for him.

One of the best parts of Obama's platform is to improve education, and make HIGHER education possible for all Americans. Education is going to go a long way in helping to take the superstition (which many religious beliefs are) and bigotry out of fashion.
:grouphug: To all our GLBT friends, we'll keep working with you until you are truly free AND safe!

not the neocons, they are soundly defeated, but the Christian right. They are beyond any realm of tolerance or reason. They are not the opposition, they are simply the enemy who needs to be silenced once and for all.
