The Former Texas House Speaker Ben Barnes' recollections over how he helped President Bush get into the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War have evolved over the years from fuzzy to distinct.

BARNES: I love my father very much, but he's doing this for purely political reasons. He is a big Kerry fund-raiser and he is writing a book also. And is what he's leading the book off with. ... He denied this to me in 2000 that he did get Bush out . Now he's saying he did.

CROWLEY: So, I hate to put you in this position, but I will ask you, do you think your father, Ben Barnes who was on "60 Minutes II" with Dan Rather last night – do you believe that he lied on the air to the American people last night about President Bush?

BARNES; Yes, I do. I absolutely do. And I think he's doing he's doing it for purely political, opportunistic reasons – trying to get John Kerry elected and trying to make Bush look like the bad person. ... Like I said, he's going to be trying to promote his book that he's got coming out.

The questions about Bush's service remain. Whether or not these new documents are true or false or Ben Barnes memory is true or false, there is no documentation indicating that Bush completed his service. The documentation that we have indicates major holes and no answers.

Time for the press to start asking hard questions.

7. Barnes originally came out with this confession

five years ago and is just ratcheting it up a little now. I'd like to think he's doing this out of a sense of patriotism and maybe a little shame for the sorrow he caused and the horror he helped inflict on the country and the world. If she had any real bitch, seems like she would have piped up long before now. Maybe she is trying to protect herself and her family from the assassins in charge of our government. They told her to stop him or inherit the consequences.

8. Does it really matter?

There is no question that only a very small percentage of those who applied to the Texas Air National Guard were accepted. Whether Barnes got Bush into the TANG or someone else did it, the fact is that Bush lept over dozens of others to get his privileged place. SOMEONE got Bush in, whether Barnes or someone else. The fact that Bush got in is all that really matters.

Other han the fact this is not about her or her feelings, what makes her a fraud? It sounds to me that shes a good Bushbot Republican who probably has a vested interest in seeing Bush win. It really is a sad day when a daughter will call her father a liar over an issue that she is not party or privvy to.
