| OMG--just got through watching Kerry speak before the |

committee in 1971 and what a brilliant man and spine chilling speech. What a fighter for the vets. Time has it's own way of smoothing out the rough edges, but after watching him speak to this committee, I want the 27 year old fighter and I'm sure he's not too far away;)

I watched part of the speech on the "Kerry Kit" DVD earlier today. How eloquent he is! Maybe that's why the freepers don't like him - too many big words. A very inspiring speech, not just for the content, but for how it was received at the time.
Actually it made me a little sad in a way, because you never really hear anyone talk like that anymore. Maybe rhetoric classes should make a comeback!

instead of reading transcripts of Kerry speeches they are making the mistake of letting the media define John Kerry. So many people here do it I want to scream. Kerry calms me down when I hear him, same with Teresa, Elizabeth, and John Edwards. They are all saying things we are dying to hear but the media is not giving them an once of air time.
Forget the media folks it is time to write it off and focus on the people around you.

They're liars, we know they're liars, then we get upset when they lie. It's some sort of sick love-hate abusive relationship thingy. I agree, shut the crap off and get out and meet people.

It ranks up there.
I'd like to see that Kerry in the WH as well; a very brave man indeed.

when he made that speech in '71 he had the "eye of the tiger" before marriage, kids, and politics. Time has a way of smoothing out the rough edges. The average joe-blow doesn't want to see Kerry wind-surfing, however serving up soup in a soup kitchen with no media there for a photo op would speak volumes to his already intense character.
He doesn't need to convince me that he is worthy to be President, but some of those guys in the soup kitchen might disagree--that is until they actually meet him in action.

I remember it well. I was a senior in high school doing all the good American love-ins and sit-ins. Ah, the music, the madness. To quote someone else they were the best of times, the worst of times. It was an era, like the 40's, that you never forget.
To see it edited and misused by SBV was personally appalling. Everyone should see it to realize the government was the enemy. Many, many of us are ashamed of the way we treated the soldiers when they came home. We didn't know any better. And we swore we would never let it happen again.

| 10. I know the feeling. When Kerry said at DNC "We thought we were making |
|
a differnce and we did" I cried. I have always wondered because sometimes it didn't seem like it. I remember thinking Kerry was really gutsy to do what he did. I still think he is. And honest.
