North Korea: What the hell are they doing?

I find North Korea's recent "mushroom cloud" very disturbing and this goes beyond what we are being told. It's not just North Korea. It's China, 'cause who will side with North Korea if we end up in a mess with them--China. How can we believe anything Rice or Powell says about this now. All credibility is ruined after the lies about Iraq.

North Korea May Test Nukes, U.S. Warned

WASHINGTON - The United States has received indications North Korea (news - web sites) might be trying to test a nuclear weapon, a senior Bush administration official said Sunday. The official said there is no evidence that a large mushroom cloud that reportedly billowed up from North Korea was linked to the communist nation's suspected nuclear weapons program.

"We're watching the indicators to see whether this is normal activity or whether something else is under way," the official said on condition of anonymity. The White House periodically receives reports that North Korea is seeking to test a nuclear weapon, the official said.

Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) said that just the idea that the United States was thinking North Korea might test a nuclear weapon highlights a national security failure by Bush. Under Bush's watch, North Korea has advanced its nuclear program, he said.

"North Korea's nuclear program is well ahead of what Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) was even suspected of doing — yet the president took his eye off the ball, wrongly ignoring this growing danger," Kerry said in a statement. "What is unfolding in North Korea is exactly the kind of disaster that it is an American president's solemn duty to prevent."

1. Right it seems something doesn't add up.

First off the mushroom cloud, second (and no one has spoken about this) this explosion happened on the Chinese/North Korean border. Not one report has been given about China's take on all of this. They should have been the first ones out in front of this story! We aren't getting the whole story here.

6. Of course they will... they are their staunchest ally.

North Korea is a sovereign nation and the US has no authority trying to tell it what it can or can not do. china will defend it against any "pre-emptive" attacks. If North Korea actually does something that warrants an attack it may be a different story. But just because they are working on nuclear technology does not warrant an attack by anyone.

14. I saw it on yahoo and a few other

news sites. China covering for North Korea? After this election I wonder if things will really heat up...North Korea is acting like a spoiled brat with China acting as the parent. They (NK) know that the US will never invade because China will be righ on our (US) heels.

Happens all the time. How many millions of ton of dynamite does one need to accomplish that? This is what happens when our government's credibility is completely shot. Seems like every thing they tell us is a lie.
