| Obama should fire this Paulson clone Geithner and replace him with Krugman! |
|
This tax dodger and Paulson clone is Obama's biggest mistake. He is nothing but a big bank, big business, Wall Street toady that doesn't give a damn about the average American. His testimony today about how the government should stay out of managing the bandit banks, including the ones that continue to outsource thousands of American jobs, while acting as an apologist for his corporate buddies is disgraceful. His lip service about transparency and accountability was so shallow a flea could wade through it. Geithner is far from irreplaceable, his ilk are a dime a dozen on wall street.
President Obama, please get rid of this tax dodging, Paulson clone, this disaster, and bring in a Paul Krugman.

I've noticed a lot of people noticing Krugman is very much admired on DU, then the seeds of discord are attempted to be sewn regarding Krugman.

Well Krugman was a popular topic of discussion during the primaries.
I guess this is the one last acceptable way of beating that dead horse for the people who just cannot let it go.

...doesn't think he'd be good at the job, he turned down an Assistant Secretaryship under Clinton. He's on record as not even wanting to run his department as chair.

He's been on the job how many days now?
No one is perfect.
I trust President Obama until he proves to me he isn't trustworthy. He knows what needs to be done, and he's getting people who can make it happen. I don't agree with all of Obama's decisions, but I can accept most, and I'll wait and see what develops down the road that may explain some of his decisions a little better.
I like Krugman a lot, and I could see him in this position, but there's probably a good reason why he's not.

He seems sincere and unwilling to be reckless with taxpayer money. He appears to want to do this right. Not do what will satisfy Wall Street. He wants to make sure he makes the right move.
Just seeing how the thieves reacted today tells you all you need to know. Its no hand out to them. Which is a good thing for taxpayers

is not a position Obama can replace without repercussions. If the market takes out its November lows and the S&P drops to 600, I think Geithner may resign. I don't know the specifics of his tax problems, but I do know that he was moving force in the sub-prime loans. I wonder if the market will drop every time he speaks.

Ahem.
Now, you may not be familiar with DU, you might find some of us "quirky".
You might be generally supportive of democratic policies and Democrats, or you might have become a member only to "disrupt" the board.
Four things might lead members here to suspect your motives, and these include your low post count and your user name, "freemarketer6", which could suggest that you do not generally support government regulation of businesses, social programs, or other progressive policies and programs.
Also, your profile is hidden and you haven't donated to DU.
So, if you are here to stir shit, you'll be gone very soon, and your posts will be deleted.
But, if you're not here to disrupt and stir shit, great, but expect some grief and watch your ass, and welcome to DU.
That's it.

Geithner is proposing rather vague half-hearted measures that won't get the job done.
Nationalize the big banks that are in trouble for starters!
And I'm sure that Roubini would welcome Krugman's ideas and advice.

| 27. Krugman is a brilliant economist |
|
But, he is human. I fear that his Nobel Prize has gone to his head (which is pretty understandable).
Given his obvious political preference during the primaries, I suspect that (1) he has never been considered to be a member of the Obama team, and, (2) he will continue to write (prolifically) because, after all, "he did win utmost acknowledgement of his academic endeavors". It's as if he has suddenly been given permission to let the world know what he thinks.
Problem is, as I see it, is that he is using his name to promote one point of view in respect to the economics of our nation. And, I am definitely not convinced that he has no ulterior motive in pushing his theories.

|
president of the Fed, but if he were so lovey dovey with Wall Street as you insist, he would have designed his plan to suit Wall Street. Instead Wall Street hated it. The reaction was loud and clear.
Details was not the reason. Wall Street and the pig bankers don't want to be accountable. They just want to grab the money and run like they got away with under the Paulson scam.
So your likening Geithner to Paulson makes no sense.
