| Bush* got very modest applause from the United Nations meeting |
|
He acted like he was giving a campaign speech. He would stop at the appropriate time when one might think he might garner some applause yet there was none. He received NO applause during his speech and only modest applause at the end. You can't fool the whole world george.

| 8. I may get flamed for this but |
|
my opinion of the UN is almost a low as my opinion of the pResident, so I don't really see it as much of a negative that one group of people I have no respect for (the UN) didn't like a speech written by another group I have no respect for (the * administration). I would compare this to the christian coalition not applauding a speech by Kenny-boy Lay.

when they help make * look bad, they have credibility. The UN allows us to say "the WORLD is nonresponsive to *"...right?

But I don't know that I'd call it "credibility", it's almost more like coincidence. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

| 15. His pauses were not for "dramatic effect", nor were they to "let the |
|
applause die down".
They were for him to practice the next sentence in his head before trying to attempt it without making an utter fool out of himself (yet again).

I live in a very very republican area of Northern FLorida.
Kerry had Standing room only at his speech herevtoday, and was being cheered after every sentence.
Bush got a very lukewarm reception at the U.N. Today, recived no applause during the speech and ratherscant appluse for about 20 second at the end.
THis was one of the coolest receptions I can remembber an American president has ever received in the U.N.
I beleve the world has already hinted at the fact that nations that will not support the U.S. in Iraq will do so if Kerry is president and goes to the U.N.
First, a worldwide poll done two weeks ago indicated that almost every country in the world polled greatly prefers Kerry to Bush and hopes he will become President (both citizens and government members were polled in these polls)
Next, Vladimir Putin indicated in an interview with Pravda stated that he believed that John Kerry would be a better president for the U.S. and that he would be a better leader to deal with Iraq. Putin could not have been more indicative that this means he would support the U.S. in Iraq if Kerry is elected if he simply came out and said "I wil help the U.S. in Iraq if Kerry is elected" For a Russian President to make such a statement 6 weels before a U.S. election is unprecedented.
Finally Kofi Annans statement that the U.S. invasion of Iraq under Bush is something that he belives is illegal and a clear violation of the U.N. Charter is also unprecidented so close to a U.S. election
The quotes are both unprecedented, and being so unprecedented are obviously hints to the American people and the candidates as well where their support lies, and what they will do depending on the reults of the election. If it is Bush we can expect no help from the U.N. Britain , the member of the coaltion of the bought, is about to pull 30 percent of its troops from Iraq, and many nations already have.
If it is Kerry, these statemens and polls have made it obvious that the U.N. and at least Russia will render assistance in Iraq.
If Russia comes in, France and Germany will not be far behind.
